Hello
I am new in the forum
A long time ago, I started out using Window Movie Maker.
Later I moved to Sony Vegas 4, then later on I moved onto Vegas 6.
I didn't notice any huge changes betwen those 2, at least not any longer.
Now I wonder if I should move onto Vegas 8.
What recommendations do you have for Vegas 8?
Is it worth it?
Vegas 6 Vs. Vegas 8

I speak from the things I heard: No.Is it worth it?
Because you get version 6 under 100 bucks now or for even less and there aren´t much big differences between 6 and 8 (as I heard). You could download the trial version of 8 first and build your own opinion about it.
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases.

Unless you are editing High Definition video from HD camcorders or other HD equipment, no.
There are a few notable changes (aside from more/better HD format/equipment compatibility) like improved titling, customizable UI layout (ver. 8's UI is now by default like most other NLEs with the timeline on the bottom and the preview and media windows on the top), and 32-bit video processing.

.. I would love to highlight the features in Vegas 6 Pro except we wouldn't want to embarrass Pro 8 by letting people know "what you can no-longer do with Vegas!"
.. As for the HD garbage .. there are no set standards anywhere in the world except in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, US area's and North Central Japan where things are continuously being tested and rejected ( I've counted almost thirteen different formats failing just this year alone T_T [ what they are triing to do is make their TV Stations PPV { Pay Per View } which makes no sense if they are going to keep the Commercials in the Programs that you watch! ] )
.. the theory of making everything PPV is not a good idea at this time because companies like DSS Dishes set the limitations on what can order by Packages that THEY deside-on however; that is about to change in 2009 -- once everybody is PPV you will not need those DSS Dish Packages because THEY will not be controlling what you unlock at home .. the TV Stations that You Want To Watch are the only channels that you WILL be decoding/watching.
.. As for Vegas 6 -or- 8 .. 6 can do what 8 does and more -- just wait a while because a lot of the HD Stuff today is just HIPE!
