Nobody really where I work/live either.
There was a local anime club, but it was kinda scary. Most of the people who came were the rabid otaku type...people who are glad to call themselves that, and throw in the catch phrases "kawaii, baka, sugoi" etc. Nothing wrong with using a little Japanese here and there, but with this kind it's every 3rd word. Either that or they're the b-tard kind. I thought about starting up a club, but that's who would show up :/
I have a few small figurines at work to counteract the guy who sits next to me that has about 1800$ worth of Star Wars stuff...
I have Tenma from School Rumble, Haruko from FLCL, Tsuruya from Haruhi in her jumpsuit :3, a really detailed Sachiel statue, Spike from CB, Dix-Neuf from Diebuster, Harima from School Rumble...and nearly everyone in the office has at one point come over and has looked at the collection...they seem to ignore everything else and go straight to Tenma..."you like schoolgirls, eh?"
And yea, I love the people that are like "omg, you like anime, so you must be all about some DBZ or some...uh, what's that show, uh Pokeman, yeah...how do you say it... You Gay Oh" if it's not that, then it's the hentai question. Or some guy has to tell you that he's all about some anime too, and then starts telling you the life history of Naruto and how funny and super and good it is and omg and like cool, man. Either that or it's a guy who's like "why you watch that anime stuff, that stuff is gay, <insert> could kick anime's ASS.
Anybody else out there like anime and is also intelligent or not a complete retard?
Do I sound bitter? :3

From my high school it was me.
In college we had a pretty cool club but it turned into a not so cool club my sophmore year. My current job 2 including me. I brought my laptop one day and had Initial D as the background and my boss walked and asked if I liked anime. Turned out he had over 250 gigs of it at home. Really suprised me I didn't know he was into anime.

I had nothing to do at the lab the other day so I was cutting some scenes in virtualdub. Someone noticed and it started a conversation. It was then that I came to realize everyone in my lab likes/watches anime. It was awesome. I had no idea, you think one of em would have said something when I was wearing one of my con shirts or something. I had always gotten along with these people, now I like them even more. =D
