As a LAST resort? Ranma 1/2 should be your first resort! Its a great show, a good combo of comedy and martial arts. Plus it has the school elements that you're seeking.

What about Bleach? That kinda fits your category. Not all of it is "in - school" but it is kinda based around a school. Its a great anime. Give it a try.
