I wasn't ripping on the actors, I was pointing out that they were bad choices for the film.DTJB wrote:Meh. Not much, just campy more than anything else. What would we expect from the guys that brought you The Matrix? Something low-key?
Don't you ever say anything like that about John Goodman again. Ever!VoodooMarijuana wrote:The cast

I actually really like the trailer.
And honestly, I'm really curious as to what you would expect from a live-action Speed Racer movie?
The Mach 5 looks dead-on to me, as are most of the cast to the original characters. Hell, it's still even incredibly campy, just like the show. As far as I can tell, the only difference are the race tracks. Heaven forbid that they make them look interesting. The Wachowski brothers are actually really big fans of the original source, and most of the effects are trying to emulate some of the original 2-D animation (such as how many of the backgrounds are flat, and that the foreground and background are both in focus).
If this is how Hollywood fucks up a classic cartoon, I think they ought to be fucking more of them.
Edit: And since it's sort of with the topic, here's a pic I took of the Mach 5 from the movie at comic-con:
You haven't even seen it yet.Hollywood has FUCKED UP another classic cartoon.

Uwe Boll is the anti-Christ of filmmaking. Simply watching even a trailer for one of his movies will cast your immortal soul into the fiery depths of Hell where you will be forced to suffer the cruelest, most agonizing fate imaginable; watching all of his movies as well as other equally excrementitious films including Ishtar, Catwoman, Epic Movie, and Batman & Robin repeatedly ON TOP OF being forced to listen to the music of Jessica Simpson, Eddie Murphy, Bruce Willis, Neil Diamond, and Yoko Ono AT FULL VOLUME.76 wrote:I agree with the above, but I have no idea who Uwe Boll is.
With that said, I have to agree that I too would see any live action remake of an anime simply out of curiosity. SR looks excessively campy, but I have to admit that there are worse filmmakers who could have made it. I'll check it out eventually.
