well it had good stuff, but it woudl take a stretch of the imagination to believe its the best. VHD Bloodlust had a better story, animation, music, and more action too.

just because they are different doesn't mean that at least certain parts cannot be compared, the animation being the biggest. Adn bloodlust CLEARLY had more detail in it than mononoke did.

ehh, if you ask me i thought there is actually very little to say about princess mononoke. i didn't like the story that great and the american celebrity voices kinda turned me off. but while the characters were good and it had a decent begining, but as it got more into it and more complex it became pretty stupid and not that great, it was too... well too all over the place, people began with lots of personal predujices and problems with everything, then they were able to put them aside and do amazing things for a short while but no one could drop them, they all ended up back as they were before and couldn't acomplish jack, they got so caught up in thier personal greivences that they ended the world just about. anyway the whole thing aside from the very begining just got to bothering me and didn't stop until i turned it ended

Hmmm you're right. I should add an addendum to that. People new to anime compared to the older generation of anime fans.Im not new to the anime world...Im one of the biggest owners on this site and I buy have been getting anime since the Early 90's....And yes NATHAT is a great dub! now if only If icould get the new dvd's....video games are ruleing my life...
Also remember, owning a site doesn't make you more of a fan or knowledgeable on the topic of Japanese animations. I'm the owner and maintainer of a anime website that receives 100,000 accesses daily and also write for a national anime magazine, and yet, I still know crap about it compared to some people. (And let me stress some )

I may have taken a wrong turn somewhere but the last time I looked, real life is a lot like this. It's when people, all of a sudden, become compleatly selfless and fight together for the greater good, risking everything they have fought for to ensure that everyone comes out of it equally happy, that stories lose their believability.people began with lots of personal predujices and problems with everything, then they were able to put them aside and do amazing things for a short while but no one could drop them, they all ended up back as they were before and couldn't acomplish jack, they got so caught up in thier personal greivences that they ended the world just about.

Hehe, I'm not sure if "believability" is the best word to describe what you're talking about. There's quite a few parts of Princess Mononoke that were unbelievable no matter what the final outcome of the events were (the nature spirits, the giant talking animals, shooting people's arms off with an arrow). Well, maybe that's just me being a skeptic.Wykith wrote:I may have taken a wrong turn somewhere but the last time I looked, real life is a lot like this. I do agree that if every story came out shiny and happy, then whatever point or theme they were trying to convey would have much less of an impact. I mean, happy endings are nice and all, but sometimes you want something different. And sometimes a movie or series isn't about having a happy ending.
And although I liked Princess Mononoke, I think there are better Ghibli films (like Laputa and Porco Rosso and Whisper of the Heart). Of course, that is just my opinion.

You mean animals DON'T talk?
I get what you're saying. I've seen a lot of anime with fantastic themes which are of course unbelievable but I admire when a director can make the characters of a story react as if the situation they are in is true and moving. You would think it would be easy considering all the actors are animated but I guess there will always be bad actors, even in animation.
You got me curious though. I'll have to check out Laputa....old school right?
