Is anime a "lonely" hobby?

I came from Italy and Anime are really unpopolar here.
I really don't have so much friends in my private life (I know only 2 persons with my same passion) and yeah, I feel lonely sometimes.
But you know what?
I don't mind it :3
I love anime/videogames too much! X3

Aside from having other fans you can talk to online, does being an anime fan sometimes feel a little lonely? Anime seems to be a very unpopular hobby among many people who aren't fans, and I was wondering how you guys felt about that.

I guess being a fan, it can get pretty lonely. I don't have friends that are fans, so it's impossible for me to talk them about the latest anime I'm watching (because to them, all anime is weird).

But I do visit message boards, so that helps wash away that feeling. Smile

Short answer, it can be.
Long answer, GO OUTSIDE :O I lived in a place that was devoid of any fandom. Nobody knew what anime was. Through online connections I just started making vids and going to cons. Now I have a crapton of awesome friends because of it, and I get to see them a few times a year at huge events. It's AWESOME.

best thing you can do is show a friend or new friend a video of some great anime and watch it in a group....if they like it you go from there. If not you know what hobby you don't have in common

Well to me, Anime is like reading a novel. It's not something I do often. Nor is it something I announce to the whole world. It's usually my wind-down method after a long, hard, week of school.
I have friends how also watch Anime,(though only a small minority) so we can talk about it when we watch something new. Though it's never anything that dominates conversation.
