Evangelion is easily my favorite, while I did grow up on DBZ I still love the shit out of it until the Cell Saga, afterwards imo it kind of went down the drain for me.
A few others I really enjoy would be Tenchi Muyo, FLCL, Gundam Wing and YuYu Hakusho.

My all-time favorite anime is a tie between 5 Centimeters per Second (which is absolutely beautiful) and Loveless.
