[quote="xxCheesecake"]I have one or two real-life friends that like anime and manga, but I'm pretty sure they don't make AMVs and they don't like the same series as me. Come to think of it, they don't even know I edit amvs. Ha.
Oh well, that's what the internets is for, right? 8D[/quote
Oh! I got it! Make an AMV and show it to them! Make something that looks cool and slowly introduce them to the anime you watch!

Nope I trick my friends and tell them awesome scenes i've seen animes and tell them it's from a movie and by that I expose animes to the world undercover when the year will end i'll go to my friend and be all like:
"Hey uhmm remember when I talked about all those movies and you said it was cool"
And he will be like:"Yeah and?"
and then I will be like :"I LIED I TALKED ABOUT ANIMES ALL THE TIME"
and then he'll be like : "HOLY SHIT THEN THEY MUST BE AWESOME!!!"
Or that's atleast what I hope will happen

Re: Is anime a "lonely" hobby?
I can't really say anime is ever a lonely hobby for me. I've always had at least a couple of friends growing up who enjoyed anime as much as I did. We would watch Toonami together and keep our eyes peeled for that one obscure anime rental that would somehow reach our town.
When I reached my early twenties, I started meeting more anime fans in my area, and we all sort of just stuck together; trading box sets with each other whenever we would meet up at work and whatnot.
I've met and connected with more anime fans ever since I started socializing online. Mostly on LJ, though. I only chat with about 1% of the people on this site XD;

Hell no, you just have to convert people! My daughter helped start an anime club, and I provided the anime.
Now, don't feel bad. It's not you, it's me. I Don't Like You. -.-

Re: Is anime a "lonely" hobby?
In my life time (probably not as long as most people here) and lived in 3 countries (since I started watching anime), I have probably met 10 people who watches anime and only 1 of them is my friend... Well this is probably more because of my anti-social-ish personality, but I was fairly surprised on how many people did not watch anime. In South Korea, most of my friends were off going to cram school with probably little time to watch anime and off playing crap Korean MMOG's (no offence to anyone who plays Korean MMOG's) and in Canada I met a few people who watched animes, but they were all girls who were interested in animes that were not in my interest so I just didn't have much reason to hang out with them (since they weren't even attractive). and when I got to Italy Rome... Well I have yet to meet a single person who watches anime. Well I did recently befriended a Japanese who has just transfered here in Italy and as I thought, just because a person is Japanese, it doesn't mean that he is interested in anime. Like I expected anime was more like an everyday cartoon that he used to watched pokemon and digimon when he was younger. So I have yet to meet anyone interested in anime like I do in my surrounding, but I'm sure its not a "lonely" hobby, since there are a lot of people online who seem to be interested in anime.

Re: Is anime a "lonely" hobby?
The 2009 season of anime (well it was 2009 when I watched a lot of it) has in some cases likely not done a lot to make a lot of us look too good.
Lets see naked loli vampire shots.
Naked Ladies and Butlers with more tits per ep than panties in Agent Aika. Plus loli scenes.
Then there was the tit milkiing series. Plus loli scenes.
A bit too many shows out there making us look obsessed with loli sex.
I'm just glad we have some shows like K-On making it seem like some of us are ok with shows where the girls keep their clothes on, and make you wonder what their panties look like, because you don't get shown.

Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.
