What with some of Sentai Filmworks', et al, stuff being affordable, they look tempting to me, but also knowing that they're only subtitled has me worried. Can anybody that has some of these releases confirm for me whether the subs are selectable or burned in? I don't want to buy a series hoping it's softsubbed so I can use it without cropping and then find out that it's not.
It seems kind of strange that a company would softsub a title with no dub track, but I know there are plenty of reasons they should. Doesn't always mean they will, though.

Softsub on sub only released has been standard for years. If you want me to, however, I can contact people I know at the Companies Formally Known As ADV and ask...

Re: Question about recent subs-only discs...
The Clannad DVDs were soft subbed, so I doubt that Sentai would break the trend and release anything hard subbed.
And on the note of of sub only disc, I just found out today that Asu no Yoichi is being released by Section23Filds in 2 weeks

Nah, you don't have to do that. I just wasn't aware of how common/uncommon it is nowadays.Kionon wrote:Softsub on sub only released has been standard for years. If you want me to, however, I can contact people I know at the Companies Formally Known As ADV and ask...

Watching them without subs is not an option, but ripping is a different story. If you normally use DVD Fab, you can rip the episodes Raw. I normally do, anyways. c:

.. doesn't matter to me, I sub my own anyway! However, it would be nice if
those who do the DUB's would remember that "skinny people sound skinny."
( hearing both Ranma, Hibiki and InuYasha from the same GAY voice is just wrong! )
