what is the most over rated anime?

I tend to agree that "Ghost In A Shell" is overrated, to an extent. The images were superbly done, and I'd even own that the plot had something going for it, but it's a bit dragging. I got bored halfway through the movie. Awesome characters, though.

I'd say DBZ is over-rated by the general TV watching audiences, and under-rated by many people who watch other animes.

Eva was pretty over-rated, Ghost In The Shell was great, I think it got the hype it deserved, but Excel, not that popular, but still over-rated.

Also, DBZ.

ALso, lots of people seem to be let down by Love Hina becuase most of the fans are fanatics.

I loved the manga. Saw the anime, and it was frankly, crap.

Bleh... Eva's only over-rated because it's too damn popular. So basically anything that's too popular is over-rated. And truthfully, I haven't seen an over-rated anime because I just ignore hype. Eva rocked, and I could explain why in too much detail but it's just opinion.

Ignoring all hype it was alright, had some good moments. Add in all the hype and it's extremely over-rated. Still just opinion, but true to many.

Agreed! And Eva is the most overated ever. I was very dissapointed... Also Spriggan was overated.

Anyone who thinks Eva is overrated is too shallow to deserve to see it. Eva is for people who want their tears jerked and their minds warped. It has more layers and mysteries than 50 years of analysis will uncover. Its implications are as profound as those in any religious text, which it probably would be if it was written instead of animated.

Cowboy Bebop is overrated. Half of the episodes don't give any reason to be watched again, but the other half renge from comedic filler to emotional powerhouses on the scale of those in Evangelion. I'm glad I watched the whole series once through, but I won't watch it through again for a long time, if ever.

I've never heard good things about DBZ, so it can't really be called overrated. It's rated as being about as bad as it really is.

What I've seen of Mobile Suit Gundam, 0080, and 0083 was boring. The last episode of 8th MS team was damn good, though. I'd have to do more research before forming a real opinion on any of them.

Inu Yasha is definitely underrated. I've heard nothing bad about it, but it's less well-known than most. It deserves more popularity than it currently has.
