I'm about as old time as you can get. My first Anime was Astro Boy back in 1965!
Critics criticize because they have no other purpose in life than to be jealous of others that create.

First anime I actually saw was probably between Super Book and the Flying House (though there might be others)
First anime I actually intentionally watched and knew was anime was Sailor Moon however. Hated the show with a passion when I first saw it. It's one of my favs now.

I think it was Pokémon, but I didn't know that this kind of series is called anime.
So I thought at first it was Death Note, though I watched Naruto, Digimon and Dragonball before.

I saw Yugioh in the first grade. Piccholo, and his green skin, freaked the crap out of me xDDD. I made my friends turn it off
But then I went on to watch Fruits Basket and become obsessed with anime in general, so my childhood trauma wasn't too serious

My 1st anime was Nausicaa but back in the late 80s when it came to America Disney cut it to pieces and called it Warriors of the Wind. It wasn't until about 6 years ago I realized I was searching for the wrong name on the internet.

First thing I saw was DBZ back in the mid 90s and I've been hooked on anime ever since.

First contact with anime ever
Basically, my first "real" experience watching anime, was a short addiction and didn't watch any more for years until...
The romance that totally hooked me, the combination of comedy and kawaii characters (like what I now know is tsundere, loli, etc) really got me addicted to anime and is responsible for turning me into a otaku. Now when I look back upon it, it was rather lackluster but at the time it really amazed me and was a pretty amazing experience.
