Anime industry
I'm curious. Does the anime industry actually have room for video editors as an actual career?

Re: Anime industry
I'm sure they do, any company using film and video would need an editor,, although it wouldn't be nearly as fun as editing to music you could still do it as a career.

Re: Anime industry
There is 3 things I love. Music, movies, and anime. Anything involving them would make me truly happy. I plan on attending college to get a bachelors in film.

Re: Anime industry
Any form of filmed media will need editors, but from what I understand, the role of editors in anime production is significantly less than that of editors in film. Unlike when you're filming something, it's simply too expensive to animate stuff that you're not going to use, so most of the cuts are worked out at the storyboard stage. Editors in anime will be doing very minimal trimming and compiling and the most.

Re: Anime industry
It's the sad truth. I just want to do something fun in life. I'm going to be studying in film at probably full sail. I wanted to do movies, music videos, but of course I'm opening to anything. (Except the porn industry haha)

Re: Anime industry
I'd be surprised if they get paid more than the animators in Japan, who are sort of well known for being notoriously underpaid and overworked.
If you speak Japanese well, then who knows? Maybe you could get a job over there. But the competition is probably really tough, I doubt they seriously consider employing foreign workers, and you could probably find a better job working in American animation, anyway.

Re: Anime industry
If you just want to work in the anime industry and you don't care if its for editing or not. I know FUNimation and viz media are both hiring right now. Nothing in production its more like brand managers, hr, and dvd techs but it could possibly get your foot in the door. Ive been applying for those positions since i went to school for acting and would love to one day work on some of the dubs, but I need a job to move out there so ive been going for those types of positions so maybe i can gef my foot in the door on the acting end. Just a thought.

To be an anime it has to have Japanese animation, American animation in the same style doesn't count but an anime can be in whatever language it wants, as long as it's animated by Japanese people.. basically.TheGreenDude wrote:Is actually every anime production japanese? I'm hoping to one day work with Japanese animators on a show that I'll direct and write for.

You do know that most anime production is outsourced to South Korea, right?UnluckyArtist wrote:To be an anime it has to have Japanese animation, American animation in the same style doesn't count but an anime can be in whatever language it wants, as long as it's animated by Japanese people.. basically.TheGreenDude wrote:Is actually every anime production japanese?
