When I got addicted, I had already seen Poke'mon, and Digimon, but I wasn't hooked on either. I was aware of my need to see female superheros (Batgirl and Supergirl were my favorites). Then I came across "Sailor Moon" in the TV guide. I got up at 6:30 in the morning and watched. The opening was all it took to hook me. I was shaking the rest of the day. Six weeks later they took it off the air. I was forced to look for somthing to satify my addiction, and found Sailor Moon on the net. I got all of my family hooked, excypt my Dad -_-''''''''''''. He's stubborn and calls it my "Anime Crap" and is always threating to take it away for the littlest infrengment. I quickly found commrads who understood, and together we discovered more heady stuff. I have seen about half of The Vison of Escaflowne, Sailor Moon, some of Ronin Warriors, Gundam Wing, some of 8th MS Team, Moble Sute Gundam, Cardcaptor Sakura, Yu! Gi! Oh!, enough of DBZ to know that I don't particularly care for it, Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust, Blood the last Vampire (it sucked), all of Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040, Princess Mononoke, A few episodes of Inu Yasha, about 3/8ths of Trigun, enough of X and Eva to know that I don't want to see them, a little more than a thrid of Saber Marrionette J, and about three episodes of Those who Hunt Elves. Pretty Soilder Sailor Moon is still my favorite.
And Watered down dubs have a pourpose. I don't want to expose my 4 and 6 year old sibblings to somthing like Cowboy Bebop. From what I've heard, I don't doubt it's a good anime, but not somthing for young childern. So I content them with the dubbed Yu! Gi! Oh! and Sailor Moon. It's safe for them, and they can be exposed easier than if they were exposed cold.

I remember actually (True Story) renting Devil hunter Yoko from the kid's section at Blockbuster. Here I am....I think like 15, going though disney and Barney flicks, having people look at me like a moron, trying to find the hidden blood and gore animes that I knew lay between carebears and Sesame street.
I guess at some point one of the employees actually watched one and was like HOLY SHIT!!

I got into anime by .... Hentai
I had already decided that the shows aired at child friendly times sucked (Pokemon and the likes).
When I stumbled upon some hentai pics.. I got quick an nice collection (transferred with disks) of pics and got interrested in movies. Downloading them at this time was hopeless so I scanned the TV programms...
And there it was AnimeNight at Vox (German channel) from 0-5.50 AM
At O o'clock you can show nearly anything in Germany Tv so figured it would be an hentai.
Luckily it wasn't, it were some Bubblegum Crises episodes and a Armitage III Movie all of them subbed, which was very good, I get to this point later.
Well I was kinda hooked from this point on, and got in the habit of watching DBZ (dubbed) everyday (I even then thought it sucked, but compared to other shows aired in Germany it was premium-class).
Now I get my weekly Anime from MTV Germany they just started Bebop.
Why it is good that my first anime was subbed :
I've seen an dubbed version of Armitage III recently I was horrified it was horribble, Armitage sounded like one of these Crossdressing BodyBuilders from Project A-Ko
Bebop is dubbed too, but MTV has done a good job even with the soundtrack.

hmmmm... I got into anime around 7-8 years ago, during my freshman year... I met my best friend Darren, and he introduced me to a series that had just come to the US a year or so before, Ranma 1/2. I watched all of it there was and I havent stopped... I have now seen all or parts of over 150 series, and heard of hundreds more...
