do you mean like anime series or movies, or like a manga? cuz i think, well there's a manga on the yakuza called Sanctuary. and then there's the mange Adolf if you're much into the world war. i mean i can't think of anything really non futuristic like you're looking for. the only thing i can think of is 08th MSTeam, since it focuses a lot more on the whole land based, ugly trench warfare type, rather than space fighting. sorry not much help.

i think that the most obvious has been over looked in this column. gi joe is still out there and available to buy. i know that it's not exactly what you're prbably looking for, but it is the closest i can think of. spriggan isn't too futuristic either. but it does have some of the occult type stuff to it.
