Deep Action

Post by Farmboybob » Sat Mar 29, 2003 9:45 pm

Hey I was wondering if yall could help me with finding an anime.
Well.... not really a specific anime, more like a type of anime. I was wondering if you could make a list of animes with deep fighting. What I mean by deep fighting is like emotional battles. Not like Dragonball Z, that is just fighting for the hell of it. What I am looking for is fighting with a soul. The only one I have found so far is the X series. That has deep emotional fighting with a plot. Also preferably like X I prefer the fighting to be during the dark of have some dark aura to it.
Thanks!

hey farmboy, i recommend Berserk. it's an awesome, 13 episode series with lotsa hardcore sword fights and battles. but it's really for mature audiences, cuz there's instances of rape, plenty of gore, and just plain madness. i should mention that the climax is really screwed up.

ur friend might also get mental problems from watchin this anime. it's one of my favorite medieval action, anime series nonetheless.

Try Rurouni Kenshin. The OAV has great fighting and deep emotion in it. The series also has some really awesome fights that really define characters. The fights in the Kyoto arc are particularly deep and important to the characters' developement. Plus the series as a whole is very good. But don't watch (at least don't only watch) the version they're showing on cartoon network! The cutting is horrible. My recommendation is to get the DVDs and watch it with original Japanese audio and subs. It's an awesome anime though.

Totally agreed. There are a few episodes in the TV series you shoudl skip since they aren't in the manga, but whatever..it's only a few :-P

Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Damn near every fight scene had intense emotions going along with it, except for the first three fights in which Asuka participated. Her arrival marked a major drop in the depth of the show. It took a few epoisodes for Eva to get back to normal. I would have preferred to give Rei and Shinji a little more bonding time before Asuka showed up...

yeah i'd say rurouni kenshin but also you could try betterman. not so totally deep emotional battles, well there's a few, but generally it's just a really strange anime and some of it is deffinately watch in the dark material. god the worms!
Fighting weak oponents leaves me feeling so empty inside.

I thought this Post was going to be about Hentai.

X tv was a good one,
ettoo....
They are right about Kenshin though, all the goods.

Inu Yasha always comes under this sort of thing too, but i always seem to forget about it even though i do enjoy the series.

If you liked X, try the ovas for Kenshin, they are a bit more serouis why the others are more humour mixed.

Noir was emoutional fighting, but, with guns..
.hack//sign had all the emoutions, not to much fighting though..
