I certainly hope your right, Heero. I would love to see Gundam Wing re-shown on CN. I enjoy the melo-dramatic, war time atmosphere of it. Of course, most of you are right. The 00- episodes fine tuned this style, but I still enjoy Gundam Wing just the same. I see them as different series all together, being as it's in an alternate universe and all. Just to state my opinion real fast. About G-Gundam, I think it is terrible, thoroughly rancid. The way they portray the Gundam's as these mass produced olympian toy's of men just doesn't fit my ideals of what a gundam should be. Other than that, I love all the Gundam series.

I don't like the original gundam...I think its the same thing over and over...(protect the white base) ahhhh
Actually, it's not as repetitive as that.
I admit, it kind of seems that way in comparison to Wing, but then again, Wing boils down as a condensed retelling of the events of Mobile Suit Gundam through Char's Counterattack
This comparison aside, the story does move along, (albeit the series did have a few eps which, for lack of a better term were throwaways...but there's always the movie trilogy edit to show the point better.)
In fact, it's not really all that much of WB fleeing constantly from Zeon (althoug, to the show's defense, much of this arc allows for the cast to become more developed...something which a good chunk of Wing seemed to be lacking), although that is the first part, during the latter, WB is actually serving as part of the Federation's combat forces.

I could go further into details, but then I'd prob. wind up hammering out a summary of the series...and where's the fun in that?

Concerning the irritation at G's use of the Gundams as toys. The creator seemed to share this sentiment. Originally he approached Bandai with the concept for another of the war series, they rejected it, handed him a bunch of outlandish designs and said 'Make us a show.' There's also reports that, supposedly, they gave him the Gundam fight pitch (he was the one who opted for the Devil Gundam additon.) But nevertheless, the view of dislike for using Gundams as the show does makes its way into the characters. (The major case of this being in ep 45 when Master Asia denounces the Gundam Fights as being, rather than a perfected war, little more than just a game.)

Whew...sorry for rambling...

We now return you to this thread, already in progress....

I am a major fan of Gundam Wing. I have spent many hours just reading about the main charecters, their Gundams, there history, everthing.

The only thing in the whole series i have a problem with is Relena, if i could id kill her. I hate her with a passion she just wants to kill the warrior spirt of everyone.

I like 0083: Stardust Memorys, its awsome, and the GP-02A kicks major butt.

0083: War in the Pocket was okay, 08th MS Team could have been a little better, origanly, well its the drawing and the fact i hate the Federation. Zieg Zeon and all.

G Gundam is the sorriest excuse for a Gundam series i have ever seen 08th MS Team was way better. (Also i liked Noris's Gofu Custom, i wanted one  )

Well thats it for now.

I liked GW a lotl, but it seemed like at the end of every episode we would see Heero saying "Relina, I'm going to kill you," and then see Relina saying "Oh, Heero!"
I began to want to kill them both, just to shut them up.

I especially liked how at the end it seemed, at least to me, that Trieze had planned the whole thing, including the ending.

CN has been running reruns of DBZ for the past 6 or 7 years, I'm sure they'll put GW back on pretty soon.

OK...since we're giving our $0.02 on series already in the US all around...well...here I go

Mobile Suit Gundam (0079) - Easily one of the most underrated of the Gundam series, sadly. More often this seems to be due to the dated animation, which makes it even sadder, as it seems to suggest more audiences go for look over story (whereas, when one gets down to it, this is one of the better Gundam storylines. The characters are also quite believable, with their share of flaws.)

Gundam 0080 - Another that seems to be underrated, in this case, due to its lack of mecha action. Another shame...the story for this one is quite good, and this stands as the only OVA (to date anyways) where when the characters die, it actually hits the audience (well...except for Andy...but we never got to know him anyways...)

Gundam 0083 - OK...I'll be perfectly blunt, there's so many things I really didn't like about this series. The characters seemed somewhere between archetypical and spineless, the plot lost all sense of direction in the second half, and overall, a good chunk of it seemed like a giant model commercial. (While I could be in a minority of this, I don't see GP-02 as all that powerful...sure, it has a nuke, but once that's gone it's got beam sabers and vulcans...a fast enough opponent and that thing's a casket.

Gundam 08th MS Team - Not bad, but nothing really spectacular...has some good moments, but also a few where it tended to fall flat (in particular, in Shiro and Aina's relationship.) Still, could have been worse, I'll give it that.

Gundam Wing - OK...some of you might want to skip this...I'm about to go on a bit of a rant...we clear? Ok? OK!...
Wing is, in my honest opinion, perhaps one of the most overrated of Gundam series ever.
Reasons:
1. While I understand that it was the first series released stateside, it irritates me to no end that that is the measure by which all subsequently released Gundam series are judged. (Esp. since the older series often get a bum rap for not having
a) Better animation
b) Fancier mecha
and
c) Bishounen characters)
2. The characters and philosophy both manage to come across as quite shallow and meaningless in retrospect. (For example, Wufei talks about fighting with honor, then turns around and slaughters a platoon of OZ Soldiers in their sleep)
3. *gets into asbestos outfit before proceeding on this one* Wing has perhaps one of the most hostile followings I've ever seen....after nearly getting verbally gutted for suggesting that I felt Duo and Heero would sooner kill each other than be in love....well...
And don't even get me started on the Relena bashing...if she's that bad, do yourselves a favor and don't watch Char's Counterattack...Quess will drive you to suicide.

Having said that, I'll give them credit for trying to add some depth with Endless Waltz, but in the long run, that seemed too little, too late.

G Gundam - Contrary to what people seem to believe, this is NOT the DBZ of Gundam. This show kind of suffers in the US from lack of a really good audience. Like I said earlier, G was made with a sort of Super Robot flair...as a result, it's one of those series where one kind of has to sit back and enjoy without letting the fact it doesn't work in terms of science get to them (does any mecha series?...really?)

Char's Counterattack - Good movie, a bit rushed, but good...wow...after all the comments for the others not much to say on this one...

I liked all the Gundam series they showed. When Wing was on it was a nice touch to show it uncut at night. But my favorite is 0080.
