That's nice, but you don't have to "prove" your "manhood" by bashing people with different orientations than you. That only ends up making you (general, meaning the basher) look insecure and pathetic.

I don't care if you don't want to watch them; I just hate the swarms of little insecure twits coming into shounen-ai threads just to spooge all over themselves about how much they are NOT interested. 'Cause, you know, I don't care.

WeiB and Gravitation

Post by hisui_ryoshi » Tue Jul 22, 2003 11:07 pm

I watch both WeiB and Gravitation. I like WeiB a lot more then I like Gravitation, but that may be because I've seen more of WeiB.

WeiB does have bad animation, but the storyline is actually okay. Plus, the four guys are hot. Aya is sexy, and Omi is cute!

As for Gravitation, of course it's sappy. That's kind of the point. Other then the singing. Yuki is supposed to be a big jerk, and Shuichi is supposed to be an oversensitve pink haired singer.

Anyway, I hope they're not dying out because I'm a big fan, the Gravitation manga comes out in August from Tokyopop in America.

I was into Weiss Kruez for a while, but the only dvd I had for it was stollen, and I haven't had the heart to rebuy it and build up the series. And it *was* getting a little depressing - even after only a few episodes. When I read up on it I found that it was just going to get much worse as the series continued, so I don't think I'll ever break down at get it now.

As for Gravitation, I plan to buy it. ^_^ I'm a bishonen-shonen ai fan, so I'll probably enjoy it. Though I think it's on the other end of the spectrum from Weiss Kruez - a little more sappy than I care for. I'll have to wait until I get it to know for sure. But while we're speaking of bishonen and such, I might say that Yami no Matsuei had a nice mix of angsty drama, though it was also a little too angsy for my tastes. And Earthian was sweet, though it also tended on the angsty side. Most true shonen ai anime titles tend to be too angsty. Heh, but then I'm generally hard to please. My favorite shonen ai anime isn't shonen ai at all. ^_^;

And I think Sarah's mostly right here - this is an underground subject on the org. You'll find vids for it, and fans of it, but the guys don't like you to talk about it. You'd be safer sticking to yuri. I don't think I've heard of *any* guys here who didn't like yuri.

Wow, thanks I guess, haha. Great to know there are still fans out there and now that I think about it, Gravitation is a lil too sappy, but still sorta cute, but I'm more of the Weiss Kreuz kinda fan.

^_^ Happy to help. And I think I liked the characters and the violence in the first few WK episodes I saw. It's been so long since I watched it, I don't really remember that well - just that I liked it. As for Gravi - I'm going to get it just because it's shonen ai and the characters are pretty. ^_^;;; My favorite anime at the moment is YYH - the pairing *isn't* shonen ai, but you can sure make it look like it is. I like anime titles that have just the right mix of angst and sap.

Hmmm YYH is pretty good, and I used to be pretty into it myself when they first started it on Adult Swim but after a while I lost interest and forgot how much I loved it. Yusuke and Kurama are the only ones who I really like. The rest I'm really to familiar with.

Except I can't stand Kuwabara's hair. I'm sorry its just... I wanna take a razor and shave it off. ALL OFF. Its just... eehh. Annoying. Sorta like an Elvis Presely wanna be who fell into some orange paint. Thats just me tho. Sorry to any Kuwabara's fans out there.

I watched Gravitation, it was good (the first time). Dont think Ill go out and buy it though (a friend of mine let me borrow it for awhile) he loves that series so I finally watched it. It was CUTE, and SILLY, but it just did not grab me. Good one time watch Ill give it that.
I have not seen Weiss Kreuz yet, its on my list. And my list is growing longer, unfortunatly I have to pay a 500$ cell phone bill that my ex was so nice to leave me (BASTARD B*TCH) :x so I wont be able to get any more anime for awhile.

Heh, if you've only seen what was on Adult Swim, you probably haven't gotten to the major Kurama/Hiei scenes, and I'm pretty sure they've cut the dialogue so there aren't many 'hints' - but by the time the series ends, it's pretty darn close to being blown-out shonen ai. The third arc (or fourth, depending on how you cut it) features a genuine yaoi pairing with Sensui and Itsuki, so the creator wasn't against the idea. I don't care much for Kuwabara (I'm a Kurama and Hiei fan). I love the series because there's so much in it - and it's the only long anime I have. ^_^;; That probably has a lot to do with it.

WAIT WAIT WAIT

I know that was tuesday and now it is friday, however...

What did I ever say madam, or shall I say madmoiselle? Had I said anything potentially or factually offensive to shounen-ai fans? I had merely stated my sexual orientation as a justification for my lack of overt enjoyment as far as shounin-ai/yaoi go. I had not, nor ever will say that I outwardly disrespect/hate/condemn shounen-ai as being invalid or non-enjoyable for others.

The I proceeded to say the following
I've never really seen either, though I know some rabid Weiss Kreuz fans and respect them.
By rabid I mean they do have a... thing for the characters. By respect, I mean that while I don't share their passion (not damn near!), I do respect their opinion and by no means have a bad view of them, their favorite series of their hobby.

The question stated "Who watches it?". "Not I" - said the ruffle-haired Loonie named Oto - "But I do know some people who do and respect them".

I thought I'd be brief and concise rather than going into my usual analysis of views/bias/subjective judgements.

Apparently, either I came out too ambiguous or someone had grossly overexaggarated my concise comments.

I stand corrected/clarified. Hopefully, I won't be subjected to abuse on behalf of shounen-ai fans, towards whom I have no hostility or disrespect.

Ah, don't be silly. ^_^; I can honestly say 95.3% of the time it's the non-yaoi fans bashing the shonen ai fans, not the other way around. It just makes the shonen ai supporters defensive is all. So long as you respect them (us), then there's no problem. To each his own, it's just a matter of preference. ^_^
