it's does?
okay..
i'm a big fan of dbz, i haven't watched db, but i've read up on it so i know the setup that i need for dbz, but i still wanna see it
i never watched dbz on cartoon network, not until i had already seen it all on tape, my cousin bought the series (tape by tape, the dunce) so i didn't have to wait weeks to watch a fight end, i just had to wait the amount of time it took me to walk over to the vcr, rewind, and put the next tape in
it was one of the first animes i've ever seen, so i guess that has something to do with it, but i have seen other animes, bought my own anime (evangelion/X (movie and tv series)/vampire hunter d/miyazaki films) so i've gone past dbz, but i'm not leavin it behind anytime soon
i agree with most of the comments here, it's not the biggest and surest bet for plot, but it's got great character development in sum of the characters...okay, so maybe just vegeta, but we see the characters grow up since it's such a long show and if u have the patience, u get attached to the characters (at least most ppl, not everyone of course)
the creative action is the biggest thril, seeing the battle start out and they toy with each other, then start talking trash and proceed to 'step it up'
also, in short fights that i usually see (non-dbz) people do sum of the most predictable moves, there is always the same kind of punches or kicks while on the ground, and the fights over, but in dbz, the fights show so many different attacks and ways of evading (although defieing the laws of physics, they still work) so it's entertaining, the type that u only see in blockbuster action films

yup yup, still have that dream too, to at least get to yamcha's point, where we can turn into wolves and wup on ppl, muahaahhahaPropyro wrote:I sorta like DB and DBZ because they were some of the first animes i've seen, so ti's kinda a nostalgia thing, well at least DB was. Plus when i was a kid i always wished that i could have become powerful like some of the characters.

I'm only a partial dbz fan since I didn't see anything before the last half of the Frieza saga (aside from a few Dragonball episodes - cute, but didn't hold my interest). I watch for Vegeta - typical fan reaction, but I *have* seen a lot of other anime, and I do have others I'd put high above DBZ. Vegeta's characters is still one of the best developed ones I've seen - and if it takes a lot of episodes to manage that, then I can live with it. Then again, my reason for watching anime in general is the character development, so I can overlook almost anything if I like a character. ^_^

ya know, that's about the best explanation I've ever heard, seriously. Although I hate that commercial, the point still remains for whatever reason people like it and it can't be fully explained. So that pisses alot of people off.Squall08 wrote:i just like it because......
you know like that applejacks commercial
I started watching DB when it was on whatever UPN originally was; basically pre-Cartoon Network. I think UPN also showed DBZ at first too. But that was at the time when anime was first entering cable and primetime (sci-fi channel). I like DB/DBZ because I don't always want a complicated storyline with a bunch of mindless fighting. I like watching the power ups. It's soaps for guys, as a friend of mine once said. I like all of DBZ and all of DB, and only watch GT to watch power ups (ie SSJ4 Goku). I had chills or goosebumps the first time I got to see goku go SSJ3. And I had read the entire storyline for DBZ-GT like 4 years beforehand, but seeing it is the big thing for me. Or when Goku powered up in front of Ginyu to show his power.
If I want a more in depth character development or complicated story, I'll watch Kenshin, Trigun, Berserk, etc.
IMO DBZ is better then yu yu hakusho or however you spell it, I watched one and never yawned so much.

Re: DBZ how could it be?
Meh people have different oppinions... most non fan's oppinions are based off of CN who screwed the series overJustin_topia wrote:How could there be such a fan base for dbz?
Im really not trying to be an ass but i see no appeal at ALL. They are constipated monkeys who shoot energy balls. I know that a few of the chars are appealing to some, But why does it take multiple weeks to complete a single battle. I Ask you dbz fans this not as a poke or prod but as an honest question.
DBZ how could this be?
Your opinion just needs to be nailed to a wall smacked with an ax a few times have a butcher's knife shoved through it... get its eyes scooped out with a silly straw... all the skin ripped off so only it's meat is showing and have salt sprinkled all over it...
meh...
