My parents dont watch anime with me.. But i watch anime with my kids, infact sometimes im ashamed because my son knows more about all those shows on adult swim better then I do :/

And hes constantly grabbing my kurumi dvds begging to watch them..

Definently in my household.. Anime is a Family Thang...And he really likes my Vids no matter how horrible they are.. for this fact.. kids rule

My mom will let me watch anime, as long as she knows it isn't violent. She gets mad when she sees me watching Gundam Wing, she finds that violent.. that's not violent.. as we all know.

My dad lets me, heck he'll take me the mall so I can buy anime and pocky. I got him to watch Mononoke Hime with me, and he told me that he forgot it was anime while he was watching it.. that's pretty cool.

My brothers though, they aren't as into it as I am, but I find them stealing my manga all the time. And recently they've been taking a liking to my vids.. even though they suck.

Oh yeah, and my step-dad hates everything I do that has anything to do with technology, whether it's my computer, video games, or talking on the phone. I hate him with a vengence.
Oh well, he can't do shit to me, my mom won't let him.

Ok, time to shut up now...

Your story reminds me of a time when I was in sixth grade and my teacher told me that she wouldn't let her child watch PowerRangers because it had too much violence. She preferred that they watch Batman.

Yeah, the animated series.

There's much more going on in Batman that a child nor an adult like her would even understand.

HIDDEN MEANINGS EVERYWHERE.

I don't really like my parents watching anime with me especially if I have not seen it. Eventhough I'm a girl I don't really like the girly shows like Card Captors and the such although my first anime was Sailor Moon. Anyway, I like the fighting and action. So when I watched Battle Arena Toshinden for the first time I was glad that my parents did not see the breaf fanservice.

My mom supports my anime addiction by helping me with my costumes and taking me and my friends to conventions. I can tell that she is a little worried with what anime I watch so I try to watch it on the laptop in my room. Its not that I think its dirty and I am ashamed that I watch it, no its just they would not understand.

Both my parents loved Mononoke when we saw it for my b-day at a local theater.

My dad I guess supports my drawing of anime but somethimes he asks "why can't you do life like drawings or landscapes?" My art teacher already bothers me with those type of questions I don't need my own father to do the same. I think he might like Cowboy Bebop, maybe.

My little sister on the other hand hates it. She does not support me and calls it just cartoons. She tells me I should grow up. Bla bla bla. She thinks anime is bad and dirty and evil. She just does not understand.

Only a few people in my class like anime although I try to convert them. Everyone else is always bugging me and the others for likeing anime. There is this one guy who knows about henti and thinks that is what all anime is about. So he always thinks we like that kind of anime.

Sorry for making this so long. It's just frustrating to be 16 and haveing no one understand.

This thread is good for the General Off Topic area since we are talking about this seriously. Just a thought. :P

Anyways, my mom has no idea why my sister and I watch anime; she still has the impression that animation is for kids. Also my dad practically questions every elements of anime like big eyes and sexy-looking girls. I tried to let them watch some of the AMVs, but they just walked away even though it uses some of the songs that's familiar to them. I hope when my sister gets her own family, she'll introduce anime to her kids.
