the GTO live action (which came before the anime), actually ended, and pretty successfuly, as well... the final episode was the most watched show in Japan's history.

i've seen a couple episodes and it wasn't so bad... so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

I'd love to see Dominion Tank Police in a live-action version. It wouldn't take too long to set up the story, introduce the main characters, and start the conflict.

Battle Royale was a book first, then a film, then a manga, IIRC.

I really liked the GTO live action drama (I'd give it an A+)... there's 12 episodes, 1 movie and 1 "special". You're right, it's different from the manga and anime but I think it gives you a different perspective on things... but that's just me. You should watch the whole thing, or a least a few episodes of it, before you "disapprove of it greatly"... give it a chance and you might actually come to like it.

MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:There are a few animes that could make great movies but others that just couldn't. DBZ and Eva fall under the catagory of anime that wouldn't transfer well but series like Hellsing could have the possibilty of making a good movie. I guess I can name a few series that I think could make a good movie (as in could transition well and still relate to non anime audiences):

-Armitage
-Banners of the stars
-Berserk
-Gunsmith Cats
-Noir (though if I remember right the anime was based on an old french movie)
-Kenshin OAV
- and of course Hellsing but I already added that

I think it would be hard to make a movie that would make any money if it were based heavily on japanese culture or used anime cliche's such as giant robots and such.
Live-action Hellsing will practically look like Blade and Angel with some Matrix-style action (mostly bullets). Gunsmith Cats is SO obvious since it is held in Chicago. Also I didn't know Noir was based on an old French film.

Here's a thought, a live action Love Hina

To the best of my knowledge, it isn't.

its like barely related, there was some old spy movie or something called Noir i think and thats about the only connection o.O ooh and they have a boogiepop phantom live-action movie too, never seen it though. And about the GTO live action drama thing, im not gonna spend time d/l some tv drama, actually i dont spend time d/l any type of show, i just get it off my brothers school network --; Besides, i wouldnt watch some show thats not in english if it has real people in it, i cant stand dubbing of those, and i cant stand subs when its with live-action. So yeah, no. But i might watch the boogiepop one sense it actually gives some important info about Echoes or so i hear o.O

To expand, 'fim noir' is a term for an entire style of flim-making that, yes, was very popular in French movies as well as others. That style is what Noir the anime is emulating, rather than a specific movie.
