I hated Merle's voice...and Dilandau, Allan and Hitomi weren't always as convincing in some scenes...(it's more the acting in it that I didn't like not the voices themselves.)

I actually though Merle's voice sounded worse in the sub, seemed even higher pitched :x . Dilandau's voice did come off as kinda strange but for the type of character he was, the insanity seemed rather real.

And yeah, I guess there were some not quite as sincere moments.

I'm all about the Japanese subbed, myself. But then, I tend to be an elitist like that...

Well I would have liked the Japanese version as well...especially since Tomokazu Seki plays Van...but I really did like the low cost of the french dubbed one...oh well, I plan on buying the collector's box set of the movie complete with the soundtrack so I guess I'll get over it.. 8)

Cheap anime is good. I didn't really like the movie, though--it changed too many things from the series, I thought. What I'd buy is the soundtrack, if only, as I said before, to support Yoko Kanno.

Well considering the movie has nothing to do with the series, it made sense they changed things. It's just using the same characters in a different setting.
