But guess what? Anime already is mainstream in Japan and we get what Japan sends us. So if such a show were created due to the "mainstream-ness" of anime, then too late, it's already happened.

The retort "you can choose not to watch" also applies.

BTW I really dislike the notion that we're this special group of people because we watch japanese cartoons. It's just another form of entertainment. Similar to people watching sports, soap operas and so on.

We're not this "high" group of people just because we like something that isn't *THAT* popular yet. That notion is preposterous and the notion to keep people out due to the possibility of saturation is equally preposterous.

If anything, we're already saturated with tons of bad anime. We don't need it to be mainstream to get bad anime. Just go to Best Buy and you can find plenty.

I wasnt talking about Japan I knwo its already huge there, I live there. I'm deployed out of Okinawa, Japan.

- I'll reply to ur other email while im here -

I never said a thing about being a superior or inferior group of ppl just cause we like different things than others. THAT would be preposterous.
I have never kept someone from excersizing their interest in Anime. I try to bring ppl in that have a genuine interest in Anime. Those who dont like it shouldnt care, but if they do then that wasnt my intention. I never said there were any bad anime's i just said i havnt seen any yet.

Yes, but ultimately if you want people to see it, shouldn't you wish for more airtime? Sure it'll bring bad anime as well, but nothing is free ne?

And my statement about "inferior" and "superior" was more general and thus no quotes or replied to anyone. It's a feeling I get from a lot of .orgers and anime fans and all it does is hurt the hobby we all love. If you felt it was directed at you, I do apologize. It was only meant as a general statement and again, no quotes or replied to's.

Yes, with more air time comes bad shows. and if I dont like the show, I wont watch it. I get the same feeling of ppl who think they are bigger than others, but I havnt seen it in Anime fans. I havnt seen anyone hold the fact that they like Anime over anyone's head and if they do then they deserve to recieve a broken jaw as a present.

In fact, when I love something, I want to share it with as many people as possible so they might also realize this happiness and enjoyment.
This is what everyone should do! well if u dont want to then thats ur way of life. And it's true that if anime becomes more mainstream than it is it brings "bad anime" but as Charizard said, if u first see and anime that seems crappy, you need to watch more of it to really see if ur first inclination is correct.
I and many of my friends personally disliked Yugioh untill we started looking into it and discovered how interesting, neat, cool, it is. I suddenly became a big fan of it...tho i really wished i had been introduced in japanese.... but even tho it's horrible dubbed and the story is a little off, you still get the main theme across and the personal conflicts. If it was a book instead you would have to read it through to get a grounds to judge it.
and back to my first comment, I love exposing anime and explaining it to those who havent "felt the touch". This is also why i made my anime club at school. I found kids who are slightly interested in making this club big and popular around school. We also have interests in Japanese culture and the language. Many schools in LA have anime clubs; San Gabriel, Marshall, Wilson, Glendale, Alhambra, etc.
i know people from these clubs and I'm so excited how they enjoy anime.
^^
Anime also shows us how intricate and complex(and popular) the animation industry is. Anime( Japanese anime) can extend to the many animation types there are ( CG, cell, clay, etc.) Anime has really gotten popular in America since the sailormoon days.
and for those people who want to keep it out of mainstream, well they dont have much of a choice.
Even if it's horribly dubbed with voice actors that cant act or have the wrong voice for the part, those anime's dont have to be watched.

...what if? I saw anime for the first time in my life in 1995 on freaking MTV. It already is mainstream. Where have you been?

(And no, I don't mean Aeon Flux; they had other stuff mixed in with Liquid Television back in the day.)

If it were on network TV? If it was a decent series I'd be thrilled. The guy calling anime his girlfriend embodies the opposite end of the spectrum to where I am - if I like something, I tell everyone I know about it so we can all partake in this nifty stuff. I'm all about sharing the love, yo. Be that TV or music or games, whatever. I want to turn as many people as I can on to this stuff, and I hope the people who created it get rich in the process.

Unlike a person's time, in the girlfriend analogy, something like this is not diminished the more it's spread around. IMO it only improves - in anime, we have more people talking about it, more people doing fanart or AMVs, and so on. Sure, there are stupid people in any fandom, but who cares? I am not interested in being the close personal friend of everyone in my fandom.

So that's my answer. Good series = w00t. Bad series = Ehhh...good start, maybe it'll encourage someone to get a better series more exposure.

Even though i said that when i meet someone who likes anime, it is like talking to a new friend, you dont have to become friends with EVERYone. i simply ment that it is allways cool to find someone who likes anime also, not yours in particular, but they may give you ideas on what new anime you should try to watch. (to see what i said see page 1, response 3)
