I love the ova's ^^ It actually shows a bit more character development than the actual series. The stories are really cute, especially "An Akane to Remember" and that.."Love tunnel of doom" one or whatever where it shows the deepening relationship between Akane and Ranma....yup...Yume is a major sap for romance So yup, I'd get it, most def. Obviously, a good thing to complete your collection.

Personally I really dont know why they called it an "OAV". They use stories from the manga just like the tv series. *shrugs* Its worth getting if you like Ranma or are collecting the series.

Well, it's an OAV because it was never broadcast on TV in Japan.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:Personally I really dont know why they called it an "OAV". They use stories from the manga just like the tv series. *shrugs* Its worth getting if you like Ranma or are collecting the series.

Holy fuck, I guess I erased the beginning part of my sentence. It went something like:paizuri wrote:Well, it's an OAV because it was never broadcast on TV in Japan.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:Personally I really dont know why they called it an "OAV". Other than the fact that it wasn't on tv. I personally really dont know why they called it an "OAV". They use stories from the manga just like the tv series. *shrugs* Its worth getting if you like Ranma or are collecting the series
I guess I decided that it wasn't worth mentioning, and forgot that I erased it. *shrugs*

Well... I mean... that's what an OAV is. Doesn't matter if it comes from the same material. The TV series was on TV, the OAV wasbn't... so... it's an OAV.MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:Holy fuck, I guess I erased the beginning part of my sentence. Anyway... many of my favorite Ranma episodes are OAV eps. I just am a little annoyed at the art style on some of the OAVs (most notably, the Phoenix ep)

OAVs are definetely worth getting on DVD. I got them before I started getting the TV series. They are definetely the highest quality animation of the whole series. Basically the TV series ends covering at volume 20 of the manga. The OAV covers stories that go up as far as volume 32. And you get the Doco music videos!
The Legendary Pheonix OAV was a short movie that actually played in theatres. It played along with other anime 'short' films. So technically it is the third Ranma movie. The second to play in theatres since the first movie was actually a TV special. I think the Curse of the Reversal Jewel and the Christmas special were also broadcast on TV as specials.
