Rahxephon question.

1. Is the series any good?
2. What's it like in similarities to other animes?

Reason I ask is because I am asking for it for Christmas and I want a general idea of what the show is like.

RahXephon started mass walkouts at my anime club and has been compared to Evangelion... but done right.

In other words: crap, but better then Eva.

From the 4 volumes I've seen of it, it's quite good. I can't really see it being like Evangelion. Sure some of the characters might be similar, but it's still an original story.

But if it's like Eva then maybe SBS will get the rights to it?

I thought it was pretty good. Although I only watched the fansubs and episode 25 (a very important episode) had the worst video glitch ever known to mankind.

If you enjoy becoming attached to characters in a story, and then see them break down when the conflict peaks... then gobble it up.

I personally loved the show (saw it fansubbed), and need to buy the remaining DVDs that I've been neglecting (the last 3).

Best anime ever.

Very good, complex story. Character development at a level you rarely see. Very well told, interesting love story between two characters- one where the guy isn't some total geek, loser with girls, skinny dude with glasses like in so many anime shows where such a loser gets unbelievably hot chick.

Similarities to Eva are there, but it is done better in my opinion. No whiny Shinji (god I wanted to kill him by end of eva).

I guess I made a good choice for a christmas gift. Seeing as how this is licensed and the only way I'll get to see it is if I spend money on it. And since it is a Christmas gift I won't have to spen my money.

Only one person so far has said it wasn't so good.
