Most Underrated/OverRated anime

Movies tend to get underated considering how well they are animated and written from what I've seen. My two favorites are Grave of the Fireflies and KOHD:Bloodlust but they seem to take a backseat on other peoples lists to Eva, Trigun, and Bebop.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Did you mean Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust?CaTaClYsM wrote:Movies tend to get underated considering how well they are animated and written from what I've seen. Yeah. The thing is is that some anime films are great. Your lucky that you've only seen two and both were very good. Most anime films try to overcondense or are otherwise too ambitious and fail miserably. But hey thats just my opinion.

Sexy Commando Masaru-San and Sakigake!!! Cromartie High are, without a doubt, two of the greatest, yet most underrated, comedies of all time.
And, um, Grappler Baki is the most underrated yaoi series. I mean action series. Nope, no homosexuality here. None.
Oh, and whoever mentioned Kogepan (I'm too lazy to read through the posts again), I want to have your baby. If it were the 80's, I would say that you rock, man. Gnarly.
GNARLY.

Probally the most overrated anime I can think of at the momment is either:
A.)Anything screened on cartoon network, mostly due to the fact that all of a suddens boards are swarmed with how said anime is the greatest in the world etc...
and
B.)I agree with Ah Megami-sama, the manga seems to be much better but sadly the anime lacks serious character development. (Due to it being a 5 episode anime and a movie which is a retelling of the 5 episodes.
And as for the most underrated anime that is IMHO Turn A Gundam. Turn A is usually imediately discarded due to the weird mecha designs and complete change in story and focus. But frankly the more character driven storyline and change in pace is quite refreshing.

Meh, I watched the new Baki, just because I liked the old OVA.... but I seriously hate it. Story is weak, the graphic style is unappealing, animation + crappy CG = SUCKS.... meh.Chocobuddha wrote:And, um, Grappler Baki is the most underrated yaoi series. I mean action series. I agree with you completely, El Banana.
However, I have a crippling mental disease that causes me to derive massive amounts of pleasure from things that are horrid. For instance, I also enjoy Super Milk-chan. You don't want to see Super Milk-chan. I mean, you really, really don't want to see it.
Obviously, my tastes are questionable at best.

Depends where you look really...here, yeah, it definitely gets a raw deal (kind of a shame...once you see the Turn A in action, it really doesn't look bad at all...from what little I've seen at this point my only grievance was Loran's seeming inability to keep his pants on), but, as I understand it, it's one of the more popular Gundam series over in Japan at this point (by last check anyways, at the very least it was popular enough over there to merit two compilation movies...I might be wrong)sgi wrote: And as for the most underrated anime that is IMHO Turn A Gundam. p.s. A Char Aznable avatar and a 1984 sig...welcome to the boards and let me just say
(Bill Brasky drunk)"Hi! I like you a lot!" (/Bill Brasky drunk) (...I think...so far cool)

Thanks there Heero-san for the lovely quote *chuckle*.
But on the subject of Turn A, it is true that it did get the two compilation movies (Earth Light and Moonlight Butterfly). I guess it's popoularity is pretty high up among the other alternate universes. But still it's Western Popoularity is pretty poor, most likely due to a large lack of recognition. Since Tomino is a near unknown in the US and not akin to god as he is to Gundam fans in Japan the fact that it was his first Gundam since V Gundam probally didn't get the big comeback draw of the crowd.
Or something like that...

I have *never* seen you post on this forum, so let me take this opportunity to say that I love your Grappler Baki video. It is the most disturbingly funny amv I have ever seen. And my favorite humor vid off this website. Great work there. ^_^Chocobuddha wrote:And, um, Grappler Baki is the most underrated yaoi series. I mean action series. Nope, no homosexuality here. None.
