How about Johnny Depp?
Narrator: "We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like:"
Shinji: "I feel a bit lightheaded. Maybe you should pilot for a while."
Narrator: "Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the evangelion, and a voice was screaming:"
Shinji: "Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?!"
Asuka: "Did you say something?"
Shinji: "Hm? Nevermind. It's your turn to pilot."
Narrator: "No point in mentioning these bats, I thought. Poor bitch would see them soon enough."

•Clint Eastwood:
"I know what you're thinking. 'Is it inactive, or will it go berserk?' Well, to tell you the truth, I kinda lost track myself in all this excitement. But seeing as this is an Evangelion, the most powerful weapon in the world, and could blow up half of headquarters with it's reserve power, you've gotta ask yourself a question. 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, father?"
•Roy Schieder:
"We're gonna need a bigger Eva!"
•Richard Dreyfus:
(Molding mashed potatoes into a sculpture of the Geo Front) "What does it mean?!?"
•Sean Connery:
"Allright. You wanna know how to stop the Angels? Well, here's how. He pulls a prog knife, you pull a pallette rifle. He puts Asuka in the hospital, you put him in the Morgue! That's the Tokyo-3 way, and that's how you get the Angels! Now, can you do that? Are you prepared to do that?"
•Arnold Schwarzenegger:
(Aiming pulsitron rifle) "You're fired!"
•Burt Ward (actor who played Robin in the '60s "Batman" movie and tv series)
"Holy Instrumentality, Misato!"
Richard simmons,"Okay you angels! it tim eto sweat to the oldies!!"
steve urkel,"<fires destroys tokyo 3>,"Did i do that?"
Leonard nemoy, as gendo,"Illogical!! Fight you pathetic humanoid offspring!"

Okay, how about Tom Cruise:
"That's right, Asuka, I am dangerous!"
"I feel the need. The need, for social anxiety disorder!"
Or George C. Scott:
"Wade into them! Spill their blood, shoot them in the belly! When you put your hand into that pile of goo, that a moment before was your friend's face, you'll know what to do!" (editted and censored speech Patton gave to Third Army, as used in the film "Patton"(1970))
Maybe Leonardo Decaprio:
"I'm king of the world! No, wait, no I'm not!"
How's about Emilio Estevez:
"Reap the whirwind, Fuyutsuki! Reap it!"

i get really sick of the 'this move is gonna suck' and the 'they shouldn't make the move' posts
okay try to follow me here
How did you people get foresight to knwo what the movie will be be like?
can you guys see into the future?
i know i can't
for the second point
why shouldn't they make the movie?
personally i want to see it
and since i do that means many other people do as well
see there is no way that in the few million people in my area alone that i am the only one who wants to see this
so if you don't want it made, just don't go see it and pretend it doesn't exist

Hmm, what is it that makes your opinion better and more relevant than the opinions of any nay-sayers?Shinster wrote:i get really sick of the 'this move is gonna suck' and the 'they shouldn't make the move' posts

If you're the only person in your area that knows about Evangelion, you're almost certainly the only one that wants to see the movie, though that's irrelevant. It's not about foresight, it's about probability. To a lot of people, no matter what they do to the movie, no matter what, it will still be bad because Evangelion isn't ment to be live action, and no matter what they do do to the movie, it will still be lacking in something in some area since you can't fit a series into a movie, unless they make it into like 10 movies and it's insane to assume that they will do that. I myself think this movie *could* be very good, but I you can't just tell everyone that their opinion is wrong, because they have basis for their opinion. Odds are, looking at all other applicable adaptions, this movie will be a mutulation of Evangelion in some way - be it plot or characters or looks, it's only logical to assume that something like this will occur because not only do all other adaptions include something like that, it is near impossible to adapt Evangelion in this way without bastardizing it in some way, and above that WETA has already shown that they are not opposed to bastardizing it. Granted, you can think whatever you want, me personally I'd like to see the movie made, but I would despise a bastardization of Evangelion (in other words I hope they don't bastardize it in a way that would personally annoy me) but since odds are that if this movie is actually made that there is ample popularity out there for it, and if the movie is popular then Evangelion fandom will be changed, so it isn't simply a case of "I don't want it so I'll ignore it." As for why not to make the movie, for one reason there is no reason to do so, Evangelion is already a visual media and Movie format has far more downfalls/restraints compared to anime series format, than it has advantages. Again, you can think whatever you want, but you can't shrug off the valid opinions that most people that don't want to see the movie made have.

My greatest fear is that they'll try to make a live-action COPY of the anime, which simply can't be done...most likely, they'll just take the concept and the significant characters. I guess that wouldn't be so bad. It could be a good movie...standing on its own, anyway. I remember seeing the LOTR movie and comparing it to the book and thinking "That is SO not right! They butchered it!" But now that I think about it, the first and second parts were good...though the third was just majorly disappointing.
I sincerely hope they don't get 20-something year olds to play 14 year old kids. And I sincerely hope they stay FAR FAR away from the Harry Potter cast.

A live-action copy of an anime... They'd need all sorts of illegal drugs for the cast to get it right. Plus major eye surgery... Hair extensions... Ahh to hell with it let's just make a cartoon of the live-action of the anime.
Or we could try and come up with something original and unexpected...
