Anyone like yaoi?

Well, I don't really like any sort of incest in anime. I mean, half the reason I found Angel Sanctuary disturbing was *because* the romance was so 'sweet' to watch. The fact that it's outright and sweet disturbed me. But that doesn't stop me from recognizing that it's a very good anime, with a very romantic theme despite/because of the incest.

But I wouldn't pair up brothers/sisters by choice (in fanworks) - that's where I draw the line, rather like parent/child relations...squick...

I wouldn't complain to those who like it, though, I just wouldn't look at it.

Then why did you come into a thread clearly labeled 'Yaoi'? If you hate it, and you don't have a sense of humor that lets you tease about it (like J-0080 - he doesn't like it, but he plays rather than flames) - then why are you posting in it? Wanting to spread the hate? They have homophobic websites for that sort of thing.

Incest = AAAH!!!! WRONG!!!!

That's how I view it, anyway. We all know the downside of interbreeding...but hey, if ancient Egyptian rulers could marry their sisters, why can't anime characters?

And don't forget the English royalty and upper class marrying first cousins (as well as ancient China...don't know if they still practice that). And Native Americans (North America, some tribes - not all) married their daughters at times (if the wife stopped having children). And the South American Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans practiced incest regularly - from father/daughters, brother/sisters down to first cousins.

Not to mention early Christianity was big on incest - when necessary. After all, you start with 2 people and populate a world you're going to have a lot of incest going on. It's all a matter of the times as to whether or not it's 'acceptable.'

I don't like it myself, but that's my personal preference. ^_^;;
