Gundam series.

Anyone still like any of the Gundam series, from Mobile Suit Gundam to Gundam-Wing.

Anyone writing fics?

Does anyone have a problem particular with Gundam-Wing and why you don't like it. The reason I ask about Gundam-Wing is because there are many that hates it.

Question 1. Yes, I like virtually everything I've seen of it (although I can't exactly claim to be a major fan of Wing or 0083)

Question 2. Been writing an odd little UC fic off and on for a while now...God willing I might finally have it ready to go soon

Question 3. Why not a fan of Wing? Three major reasons coming to mind
1. The fact the story is essentially a rehash of the original storyline (right up to an ending that would make Char slam his head against a wall in frustration)
2. Learning that the 'sexually ambiguous prettyboys' really WERE meant to be a major marketing point for the show kind of made the story seem even less...
3. Compare it with UC...original Mobile Suit Gundam, when you see some of these Zaku pilots going down, they panic, you see they're human...in Wing, those Leo pilots seem more like talking heads whose vocab consists of no more than:
"It's a Gundam!!!"

That's just me though...

I've seen G Gundam and Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory almost in their entirety because their theme songs grew on me. G Gundam reminds me of Pokemon, now that I think about it, or any other series where each ep is about the main guy battling someone and winning..

I've been fortunate to have never seen a single episode of Gundam Wing.

Except for the ep titled "Heero Troubled by Defeat" Oh and there was Endless Waltz too.

And Mobile Suit Gundam...yuck! It had a crappy beginning with matching animation.

my personal favorite was 8th MS Team. I felt it was very realistic as wars go.

I also liked G-Gundam an d Wing. As for SD Gundam, that's like the dog crap that I pick up outside after it rains

08th The MS Team and Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (heh I even used part of the name in my sn) are prolly my two favorties that I've seen.

No fics from moi

I didn't hate Wing, I watched it all the way through...twice on Toonami, was actually rather enjoyable.

OK...if I don't get this out of the system now, I'll explode...just to clarify, there are two kinds of SD out there...

There's the one we have over here (Superior Defender aka SD Gundam Force) ... this show is cell-shaded ass, there's no nice way of saying it...
Then there's the original SD (Super Deformed) series, this one was actually pretty funny stuff and has been getting fansubbed...

Anyways, on the note of MSG from ebichu:

Just remember, that's all perspective...remember, the show was made in 1979, as a result, the animation is NOT going to look nice compared to, say, Cowboy Bebop. Frankly, for it's time, I'd say it was for the most part, nicely done (although with some weak points, but hey, most shows have those)

As for the beginning, again, that's opinion based...personally, I think it was a good way to get things rolling, as it gives you two things to work with:
1. Gives a good way to introduce the characters
2. Shows you one thing that becomes a recurring theme of the show...these are civilians fighting.

Gotta remember, G Gundam was a whole new universe so they could run it a diff. way
and 0083 didn't get 40+ eps to work with, so they naturally had to move the story along quickly (characters kind of suffered as a result though.)

But...that's my $0.02...sorry, had to get that from the system

Well I like the serie of Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed too. Well the have some episode I don't like but I love the serie.

I really don't get why people dislike Gundam Wing, because it really was an excellent series. It was definately a lot better than the oldstyle gundam series with the older animation. Gundam wing actually looks modern, not like the others at all.

i use to luv Gundam wing personaly.... y wud ppl h8 it i thou it was the "DBZ" of the whole Gundam Serias... but then thts just my opinion
