Kyo fan, here (I tend to like troubled guys, at least in anime, for some reason) but Shigure's also up there on the list for some reason (he's just fun), and... Hatsuharu? The cow--I think that's his name. Anyway, he reminds me of Trent from Daria, which is always a good thing. Trent = musical genius.

Meh, I spose its odd to find a guy in this thread, but I'm only here to pass comment on the fact that Fruits Basket is a kick-ass series - AND - to help you hopeless fangirls (jk) out with the names and faces, if you didnt know them already.

Kyo - The one with orange hair, agressive attitude and hairtrigger temper, transforms into the Cat, which is not a member of the chinese zodiac. Always picking (and losing) fights with Yuki.

Yuki - Purple hair, usually voted by fangirls as the hottest in the series, gentle demeanor, unless provoked, usually by Kyo, when he proceeds to bash seven shades of shit out of Kyo. Usually mistaken for a girl by newcomers to the series, and is the source of affection by females and males alike in the series itself. Transforms into the Rat.

Shigure - The "funny guy", always cracking jokes and laughing, also pulls some very funny faces. Longish dark charcoal hair, always wearing a kimono (except in a few episodes where you see him in a business suit.) A writer, loves playing pranks on his female publisher, although hes an honest and down-to-earth guy. Transforms into the Cat.

Akito - The "evil" character of the series. Head of the Sohma family, he is cruel, exacting, malicious and vengeful. Also icily handsome, as Tohru puts it, he could "Give Yuki a run for his money!" His cruelty and bitterness extend from the fact that he carries the full burden of the Sohma curse, and is destined to die young. Personally, I don't find him all that likable as a character. Doesn't transform.

Momiji - the uber-cute blonde kid, who is infact 15 when he only looks 8. Very childlike, with a care-free attitude that hides a sadness felt over his rejection by his mother. Incredibly likable, affectionate and caring, rarely seen outside the company of another member of the Sohma household, usually Hatori or Hatsuharu. Is seen wearing a girls uniform at school (watch for the scene where the girls imagine an older Momiji in a boys costume - oh it gets better, then a guy imagines Yuki in a girls uniform - hilarious stuff.) Transforms into the rabbit.

Hatori - The family doctor of the Sohma household, Hatori is quiet and makes his point very bluntly when he speaks. Always thinking of others first, Hatori sacrificed the sight in his left eye and the love of Kana Sohma when Akito decided to chuck a temper tantrum and smash a vase in Hatoris face. Erases peoples memories to either protect them, the Sohmas or to remove a bad memory that causes ill-health. Transforms into a Seahorse (Dragon).

Hatsuharu - Somewhat a loose cannon, 'Haru sports the funkiest hairdo of the series, white hair on top, black hair at the collar-line, owing to his Zodiac identity of the Ox. He has 2 "personalities" more like 2 seperate states of mind. One, "Whit Haru" is very calm, subdued, and kind. The other, however, "Black Haru" is the polar opposite. He is loud, brash, bold and violent, and delights in at least attempting to break Kyo's bones. This personality only comes out when he is stressed or pissed off somehow (usually by Kyo or some pushy member of the student council)

Hiro - The rude arrogant little brat that transforms into the Lamb. First act in the series - robbing Tohru of her photo of her mother. Basically a petulant child, he harbours jealousy toward Tohru over her relationship with Kisa Sohma, the Tiger.

Ayame - Yuki's big brother, he is bold, confident and his personality is very very big. Likes to joke around with Shigure about their "relationship", and tries very hard to mend his relationship with Yuki, which has suffered due to their different natures. Listens to no-one except Hatori. Alot of the jokes in the series revolve around him. He has long, light purple hair and a regal demeanor. Transforms into the Snake.

And then, one all you girls forgot to mention:

Ritsu - The "guy that looks like a chick", he dresses and behaves like a girl because he feels less vulnerable that way. The son of the lady who owns the hot springs (you know the one, the one thats always apologising), this behaviour hides a fragile personality, one that feels at fault for everything. Only in the series for one episode, technically he deserves a mention, as this is a bishounen competition, and he is a guy. Transforms into the Monkey.

Being a guy too, I can't fairly call 'cuteness' without accusations I refuse to field (heh). But the character I like the most is Ayame, becuase he is sort of like me, if I had long light purple hair, yellow eyes, and transformed into a snake. And owned a 'special' dress shop for men.

Okay, he's nothing like me....maybe that's a good thing. Still my favorite character, though.
