Anime News Network is a good place to look at anime before watching. I recommend bookmarking the main page of ANN and visiting often for the latest anime related news and their Encyclopedia is vast and accurate.

I've seen the first 3 episodes of it. It's actually not bad since I tried to get used to the character designs. The 3D monsters looked pretty cool.

The beginning was the best part. Then they began to overdo crappy CG and preach about environmental issues.
