Geneon Pioneer DVDs???

Post by KC Kimeleon » Tue Feb 17, 2004 7:42 pm

I was in good old Blockbuster the other day and i caught sight of a bunch of animes for only 20 and 25 bucks. They had Tirgun #1, Akira, Armitage III, the Tenchi movies, Lain #1, some Sailor Moon episodes, and a few others. I was just wondering what the catch was, and why they mostly carried only the first DVD of each series. Can anyone tell me about Geneon Pioneer, cause I don't want to buy any DVDs and get ripped off somehow.
Miroku: Kagome, are you worrying about me?
Kagome: I guess so.
Miroku: In that case, I have a favor to ask you: please bear my child.

A few months ago, Pioneer changed its name to Geneon. With the new name, they decided to rerelease some of the older anime series at a cheaper price.

Thanx. One more question though. Do they carry the rest DVD of the series then, and are they cheap too?

Ok, it was two questions, but you get the point.

I'd assume yes. I mean if they were going to release the rerelease the SERIES it would imply they were going to release the whole thing. Though you never know, and if it's from the same company it should stay the same price. Why not just ask Blockbuster cashiers? They may be able to tell you.

Oh and welcome to the org ^-^

(btw before the locals get grouchy, I do believe your sig is a wee bit too big, I think the restriction is four lines, so you may wanna check out the rules)

Also they look to be cheaper in stores other than BB.

Pioneer sold their animation division to Geneon and Geneon is reselling some older Pioneer series as the "Signature Series" at nice low prices. It's a great way to start a new company, releasing old established favorites to people who couldn't afford the original overblown prices. They're just releasing them slowly is all. :)

No, they sold it to Dentsu. Geneon is a new name.
