Prefer Japanese or English Dub?

Post by miryoku-teki » Thu Feb 19, 2004 1:17 am

I just felt like asking this question because... er... I felt like it. :D

My Opinion:
I prefer Japanese dub, Because its just way better... Its just like when you watch an American cartoon dubbed in japanese, Its the same thing, It doesnt work well together. So yea... Let me just say... Japanese with anime, And American with their own cartoons...

you can speak now...

Depends on the anime and the voice actors. If the Japanese cast have similar sounding voices (to a non-Japanese speaker), then some dubs can give a lot more variety to the anime.

But most of my favorite anime, I prefer to watch in Japanese. The only exception might be Gundam Wng, since I like that one in both dubbed and subbed versions.

yea... it does seem to be based on the quality the voice actors do... now that i think of it... Cowboy Bebop wasnt a bad dub.

Same here though I highly prefer dubs since it's fun to hear English voices give a similar performance as the Japanese. For example, I have high respect with Bang Zoom! Entertainment dubbing Clamp series (the dubbing of Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card REALLY made my day 8) ).

My preferance is to watch it once in english, then once I know about what they say, watch it in japanese. this way I can read the sub-titles and still know whats going on on the screen.

.....mabie I just can't read fast enough.

I watch subs 99.5% of the time. Dubs make me cringe.

This thread has been played out dozens of times, and it should (and probably will) be locked before it turns into yet another dub vs. sub flamewar...
