Anyway, I'm bent on making an argument for Crest of the Stars (and, by extension, Banner) as a good romantic series with action elements. The main plotline is very dramatic and romantic, but the space battles are a marvel to behold. Of course, the whole idea is a very serious romance in the middle of a tragic war, so take it or leave it.

In Escaflowne, I felt that the plot almost got derailed by the romance. Not to mention all the emotional waffling and competition, which made things worse. I'm of the opinion that the ending seemed rushed for a reason.
