American parodies of anime

Post by Madzack » Sat Feb 28, 2004 11:24 pm

Any examples of American parodies of anime shows, cliches, etc? Can you elaborate on that?

Like Freakazoid's parody of Astroboy. Or Dexter's Lab. Or remember Chipokomon?

Recently, I saw Ron Stoppable in Kim Possible visiting Japan to learn ninjitsu. There's a scene where after he defeats his enemy, he turns into a smiling SD.

He is asking for any examples of american parodies of anime, any instance in an american show that makes fun or exaggerates a common element of anime in someway.

 Gawd!

Anyway, more examples:

"My Life As A Teenage Robot" where Jenny XJ9 speaks Japanese! All your favourite words like "Baka" are there. What's funnier is how the people around her respond to her speech!

I'm not a big South Park fan, but the episode i like was where the kids all turned into parodies of anime-esque characters....it was actually pretty funny...especially for a show that got popular off of poo-poo pee-pee jokes

Some more examples of Americans spoofing anime:

South Park: Along with the Chinpokemon episode, there's another episode in which Cartman turns into a blob-like creature a la Tetsuo in Akira.

The Simpsons: There have been a few anime references on the Simpsons, with the best being a couch gag in which the family members resemble various anime characters both old and new (i.e. Bart as Astroboy, Marge as Jun from Gatchaman, Lisa as Sailor Moon).
