The Jewish mystical symbol with 8 points is called the Sign or Seal of Solomon.
The Star of David has 6 points.
The pentagram or inverted pentacle has two points facing up and is often described as fitting the form of a goat's head (horns up, ears to the sides, muzzle down).
The pentacle has one point facing up, and is described as a human figure (head up, arms to the sides, legs down).
The blasphagram is a composite of three symbols from the "Simon" hoax Necronomicon, overlaid on top of each other, and has been seen very rarely outside of Morbid Angel cover paintings.
On topic, one of the symbols on Alucard's gloves is a heavily modified pentagram/pentacle with (IIRC) Hebrew characters around the perimeter of the superscribed circle. I think the Answerman over at ANN mentioned this in a recent column, but I'm not completely sure.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Actually, the characters are not Hebrew, but are written in an medieval/renaissance magickal script known as the Theban Alphabet.Kai Stromler wrote:On topic, one of the symbols on Alucard's gloves is a heavily modified pentagram/pentacle with (IIRC) Hebrew characters around the perimeter of the superscribed circle.
The pentagram on Alucard's glove can be seen on this site's backround.

The site that had good information on this is down, so I don't know about the actual symbols, but here's a quote from Head Like a Hole site.
As for the sigil itself, there are two schools of thought. The first is that the sigil is one of the major bindings on Alucard. Lise and Teleute have suggested that the five symbols inside the sigil represent the five men who captured Dracula according to the original novel.
On the other hand, it's possbile the sigil is, in fact, a focus for Alucard's power. This is suggested at several points during the anime, notably in episode 11, when Alucard uses it to disrupt Integra's ritual, and in episode 13, when the Thames runs red with blood and the entirety of London is lit with red to form Alucard's sigil.
