Gawd... What can I say? purchasing things because they were made popular in some anime? (recoils in horror)
Sorry. I have a negative view on Kenshin. I remember a buddy of mine (reformed now, thank god) who was so kenshin this and kenshin that, he was sure he knew the hiten mitsurugi style of fighting. Untill I broke his nose two seconds into a fight. Which consequently shattered his whole world, much like the cartilege in his face.
He's normal now, and has a girlfriend. Sometimes violence IS the answer. But never think that the ends justify the means.

Actually, yes there was, after the tokagowa dynasty ended with the meji revolution, swords became illegal to have and all but a choice few could have them. However, certine forms of swords were allowed. Short swords that ballenced between dagers and swords were looked into, but those who carried them could be threatened to be killed for carrying one.Oh by the way, there was no such thing as a "reverse blade" in feudal japan. It is not feasible to make such swords unless using modern, mechanical methods.
other forms of escaping the no sword laws were to hide the original swords, concealing the swords in sheethes that made them appear as something else like a staff, and reverse blade swords were allowed because arrogantly the japenesse government believe that no one could wield a katana backwards effectively. However, this idea was so comman that not even sword makers agree to make them because not only did they not believe it feasable, but they were under presure of the meji government. Few were made, even fewer survived because no matter how strong you make them, they are very liable to bend.
As for the zanbatou, virtually impossible to forge. You would need to burn down a garage to get a fire big enough and hot enough to heat the metal alone. And since japan lacked natural resorces, it is very doubtful that they would've even tried to forge one sword out of enough steel to make 30.

I have never heard the slightest mention of such a thing ever, and as far as I know the general consensus is that making one of these swords is impossible because of the way the different strength of the metals used would bend when the blade was cooled.I Crimson Blade I wrote:..and reverse blade swords were allowed because arrogantly the japenesse government believe that no one could wield a katana backwards effectively. But I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, since you either know what you're talking about, or are foolishly trying to make it seem so.
So... is there any link with any tidbit of information regarding this topic you could supply?
I like bugging people. Deal with it.
