Dragon Ball Z was also based on the story of the journey to the west.
As A matter of fact,in the story of Goku in the original Legend before his transgresions against budah he was deamed "the monkey king"after his tribe came upon a watterfall with a cave behind it,they were all afraid to go inside,so Goku jumped at the chance and inside he found a ruined temple.the other monkeys of his tribe were so awed at his courege that they made him there king.(Note:Goku was also known as the stone monkey)

The fight scenes are much better in the manga than in the anime (sad but true).

I know what it is fully well and i own the entire series. What a great anime. I discovered it first in a local anime shop then picked up the anime in new yorks china town. I didnt know what you guys meant cuz the anime i have is Gensomaden Saiyuki. What a great anime. I prefer Sanzo i think hes the priest and the guy with red hair whos name escapes me right now.

Um yes, China Town, that would explain why you have a bootleg with the original title on it.
