I feel ya Kitstune3. I thought I was the only bruh in here. We're probably the only two brothas on the forum. Oh, well. Anyways, DDramone I can probably find The Hero with a Thousand Faces at Waldenbooks, but where can I find Aristole? I been dreaming about being a mangaka since eight grade. I'm 19 now. I'm not going to drop out of college for it. But, when I graduate I'm going to concentrate more on the manga.

If you're at a college, the college's library probably has the Aristotle, it's a classic and required reading for some literature classes. If you're going to start delving into literary theory I would also recommend Simon O. Lesser's _Fiction and the Unconscious_ if you can find a copy. (I majored in English with concentrations in fiction and literary theory, so I have the bibliography from Aristotle up through Campbell and more modern stuff practically memorized. ^_~ )

Re: Drop the normalities
Well, to be nice, you have a strong opinion. Geez.Completely Wreckless wrote:You want manga, throw some tiddies in it.
You cannoot go wrong with tits.
Seriously though, throw tiddies in it.
Seriously.
But, seriously fuck what everybody else does, do you. It's your shit. No bodies gonna buy it anyway so you might as well do what the hell you want. People will respect you more if you come with some originality, throw some passion in it, show some perfection in your craft, and oh did i forget tiddies pleasssse.
Good manga is like acid. You hit it, it's incoherent, you start hearin and seein shit, you start scratching yourself, and by the end your talking to the monkey in your pillow case hoppin around like he's luke skywalker throwing shit at you and biting your finger nails.
Good luck.
Um, here's mine. Think about this; what do YOU look for in a manga? Which mangas make you run to the comic book store as soon as you have money? Why? Ask your friends about their fav genres, and consider your own. Also; even if you aren't a romantic kind of person, you should at least hint at SOME kind of romance. Because if you hit it big and there aren't any alleged couples... well... scary things could happen. And plus, us girls love it!
I'm pretty confident that if you have a god story line, art that you put effort in to, and you honestly think you would read it if it wasn't yours, than I think you're set! (So... no pressure.)
Shuichi: I take it all back!! You're evil!! Ohhh, PHONY!! You make HITLER look like a BUS CONDUCTOR!! (But I still love you *heart*)
Eiri: (Mmmm. I like it.) Ha-ha-ha! Crawl to me, you insignificant worm!
"Face it, Eiri. You can go anywhere. I don't care if it's Kyoto or the Amazon Rainforest -- I'd walk the world to make you fall for me."

That is indeed a nice pic, but you should put pics not directly related to making a manga in the anime art thread instead.
I made an attempt at my character M, grinning, with the feather cockatoo crest the story calls for. It looks a bit... well, you tell me. o.O I could use any suggestions for what to about these uncooperative crests...
