Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a night. Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
Wait, is Australia PAL or NTSC?madbunny wrote:That should also take out any PAL issues that buying from american sources would have.
Just a thought here: isn't PAL a higher resolution than NTSC?Zarxrax wrote:Australia uses crappy PAL. All the more reason to buy from America.

Japan is NTSC as well. PAL users get the resized version, which adds nothing since it typically comes from the Japanese source. Also its normally extremely difficult or impossible to restore the framerate properly in PAL releases, so you get an extremely shitty video quality full of blends.madbunny wrote: Just a thought here: isn't PAL a higher resolution than NTSC?
I've never compared anime from 720x480 to 720x576, but it stands to reason that if he fixes the frame rate, then the final output would be a slightly sharper version of the same material than using less detailed ntsc source material. More pixel information = greater clarity, right? Japan uses region 2 right? Therefore, we with the NTSC are getting the resized version.
Am I way off base here, or is it just one of those differences that is impossible to detect anyway?
On a related note, isn't Japan switching over to an HD format for broadcasts? Meaning that the footage is soon to be further complicated by new dimensions (that would be I'm guessing either 1920x1080 or some variant right?)
ah shut the fuck up if you dont know what your talking about. ive spent over a $1000 on PAL anime dvd's and i havent seen the slightest picture error or any of that crap that NTSC people allways talk about when bitching about how crap PAL isZarxrax wrote: Japan is NTSC as well.
