what is the best anime of all time?

I'm going to take the odd vote here and say...none...for three reasons:
1. Anime, to this point, has been made by humans...as such, nothing made by a human being (or team of human beings) can be completely flawless
2. Perception...one man's trash is another man's treasure, as the saying goes. For an example of this...I've heard people proclaim Gundam Wing as being a more realistic look at warfare than the collective Tomino Gundam series...frankly, I feel this is completely wrong, but the point is, there's no way you'd be able to get all humans to agree on one particular greatest series, since all have different parameters of what makes a show good.
3. The way the question is worded...best of all time? So long as time flows and humanity is around, one can assume new animes will come down the line...as such, I feel it would be presumptious to declare a best of all time with an incomplete list.
...But...that's just me

Anyway I consider Evangelion the best because... it's the one I see as the best. Everything about it was done superbly, from music to animation and character designs, to plot and theme (substance), and action, comedy, and fanservice, all well done. It provides me with precisely what I wan, even more so than all of my other favorite animes (though I'd be sad if I didn't have my other favorites) no other anime I have seen has nearly as much goodness compiled into one thing as Neon Genesis Evangelion has.

I get your points Daio Kaji, but the thing about me is that I have an unconventionl sense of mind. For some reason I do consider Evangelion's animation top notch - I don't ever notice any of the true flaws (like that explosion through the mountain thing), and despite a low budget I think its animation is entirely fitting, it's probably actually my favorite animation of anything, I love the style they did it in. I don't entirely understand why I like the things I like, but I tend to like what I like. What I mean by that is, if I love 2 Doors CDs odds are I'll love them all for one reason or another, and if I love a series as a whole, odds are I'll love the induvidual parts.Daio Kaji wrote:eva's my favorite anime too... but i don't think it's top notch in every department
the animation isn't all THAT good, it's mostly EoE that has that great animation, throughout the show, they did really well, but had to work with what they had, sum of the animation really isn't that good, just creatively done, so it gets by as good
also, because of censorship and a big debate on funds... we didn't get to see the intended ending for the show until they released the movie (since movie wouldn't get censored like the show did)
so it's got faults... so i don't think it qualifies as the best anime of all time
if anything... i still believe that there can be no perfect anime or best anime.. there's always tomorrow and tomorrow always brings more anime, but bebop probably rules for now 8)
As for the ending... if the originally intended ended had been showed first time around we'd be in the loss. I hate censorship as much as anybody (infact, it is one of my mortal enemies) but having both of Evangelion's endings is infinitely better than having just one.
Look at all my trials and tribulations
