Matantei Loki Ragnarok is about the gods in Old Norse mythology:
Loki: the god of mischief
Narugami: Thor, the god of thunder
Freya: the goddess of beauty, richness, love and war
Heimdall: the watchman of the gods
Freyr: the god of fertility, lord of the elves (?)
Yamino: Midgardstrom, the Midgard Serpent
Fernir: a big..dog (wolf) that the gods tied up somewhere^^
Hel: goddess of the dead
and then there are the three sisters of fate: Verdandi, Urd and Skuld

A lot of things in anime and video games were influenced greatly from old stories and mythology, both western and eastern.
The most used 'Gods' in anime and video games that I can think of are the Four Sacred Beasts that surround Kyoto. Suzaku the Phoenix of Fire, Byakko the White Tiger of Air, Genbu the Stone Turtle, Seiryu the Dragon of the River.
If you've seen Yu Yu Hakusho, you've seen the reference, if you've seen Beyblade, the reference was there. As was Cowboy Bebop, Castlevania PS2 game, and a whole shitload more.
Its very rare to see an anime that hasn't been influenced by an old myth or legend of any kind at all.

there were four in fushigi yuugi: Suzaku, genbou, seiryu, and byakko (well the part I saw, all but Byakko were actually mntioned, so he must be the fourth) as mentioned by the poster above yousweetstarfire wrote:there were a couple gods in Fushigi Yuugi(sp?) Umm, Suzaku and the other one. Then of course theres Chrno Crusade, which is focused on the christian religion.
In Scrapped Princess, the "gods" (or demons, depends which character you ask) are called Browning and Mauser
In Lodoss, there are Kardis, goddess of destruction, and Marfa, goddess of the earth. Also there is Falis (Valis?), god of light, and Falaris, god of darkness, plus a god of thieves and others only mentioned or in the Lodoss RPG
In Slayers, as I recall, there are demons, but no gods are mentioned specifically.
