anime is.

Post by Hikarusan » Sun Jun 27, 2004 9:59 pm

to me anime is whatever you want it to be. except for the stupid american cartoons.....but things like Teen Titans, Megaman NT Warrior, Totally Spies, Inu-Yasha, Rvolutionary Girl UTENA, etc. are all anime to me. that is because they all have the traditional emtion symbols like a sweat drop, or veins, or down cast eyes with lines or complete black out, and chibi forms of the characters.....to me all those things define what anime is.....oh and also the fact that usually anime is derived from mangas or vis-versa.....but that's just my own opinion. if anyone disagrees with me "i await the challenge with baited breathe" (Shina Mol Banvivirie [a.k.a. Bambi-chan] - Planet Ladder Volume 4 or 5 can't remember which ^^;)

arnt teen titans and totally spies AMERICAN MADE?
I thought Totally Spies was from Japan because I know for a fact its shown in Japan, I thought it was just an anime based on americans...eh, guess not. :?

And Teen Titans is American made but damn it might as well be anime (cause it completely mimics the style).

So in other words no matter how much its like Sailor Moon, DBZ, Eva, Bebop, Trigun, Angel Sanctuary, Steel Angel Karumi, or anything else from Japan, its still not anime unless its actually from Japan?

Oh and yes those are real quotes, from three people I've talked to in person and one person on this site (who shall remain unnamed). My apologies for the misspelling of "Definition".

Totally Spies has at least one Japanese thing (sweatdrop, chibi, whatever) per episode. I think it's just trying to be Japanese.

"Wicca" or "Witch Club" or whatever looks very influenced by anime.

So in summary:

Anime=Japanese Animation
Manga=Japanese Comic
Hentai=Strange/Pervert/Anime Porn

Also, 'Echi' is how the Japanese pronounced the letter 'H' which is used as a short for 'Hentai'.

"Winx Club" on FoxBox? Yeah it does a little bit (if thats which one ur talking about).

Yeah I guess Totally Spies is just wannabe like Teen Titans. Ah well, I'd just been thinking wrong about it all this time.

I wonder why some American cartoon companies have taken an interest in anime. There's Teen Titan and Totally Spies like you guys have mention, but as i recall there was a thread a while back that talked about Mtv making it's own "anime."

everyone is trying to copy anime now. it seems to be the 'in' thing. its like anybody whos anybody has either anime or a rip off anime on their network. some of these rip offs are semi decent some totaly suck. but meh maybe this will make little kids enjoy anime more when they grow up.
