Thanks to everyone who said happy birthday and reccomended anime! ^_^
Actually, in Japan, elementary school lasts one year longer and high school lasts one year shorter, so no, they wouldn't be older than 16 if they were seniors. (Unless their parents put them into school later or eariler than most children, or if they were held back a year because of poor grades, or giant robots, or whatever.)Karou_ken wrote:In Comic Party, they're seniors in high school, so they're a bit older.

so if someone can remember how long ago... the incident.. happened, that's how old Naruto is... trust me, it's ridiculously young for the kind of stuff they do, lol, but it's anime, so meh [shrug]

Please Teacher takes place in that sort of 15-16 year old timeframe, since they're in their second year of high school (and since Kei is 18, but was 'stopped' for three years so he didn't age, therefore he only looks 15; but I'd say it's probably just a relative timeframe, not something set in stone, since I don't think they ever tell).

You said yourself that middle school is a year longer and high school is a year shorter -- so it would even out, making most Japanese HS seniors about the same age as most US HS seniors, which I thought was 17/18.

....and I always though it has senior high and junior high in Japan, like it used to be in the States. junior high: 6th-9th grades, senior high: 10th-12th grades, so Japanese high school seniors would be about the same age as American ones. Though their school starts in April, not September/August, or so I once read.
Anyway, a show... hmmm... in Airmaster (I mention this one so much) all of the main characters are in their first year of Senior High School, making them 15 or 16. Airmaster is awesome if you like unrealistic but beautifully choreographed fighting and a girl who kicks butt. There's also a great deal of comedy. However, sadly it's not yet licensed, so if you decide to see this one, it's fansubs or region 2 DVDs (assuming you have the money and can understand Japanese).
Can't think of anything else (that I actually like).
