dune... (drolls) yeah
Dune would absolutely be a good choiche for an anime, I mean you've got everything there, action, drama, philosophy, sf, struggle for power, etc.
Spiderman was done and redone, but I haven't seen it anime style yet, so they should give it a try (although i've heard something about a spiderman manga????)

Alan Dean Fosters "Commonwealth". Finest SF series there was in the 70ies. Various storys that don´t have much in common but some of the main charakters that stumble into the adventures.
The main plot around the genetic enhanched boy "Flinx" is very manga-stylish. and has the right "volume" for an 26-Ep sheme.

I would love to see the "Enders Game" series made anime.

I've been rereading Madeline L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time" and its sequels. The first book might work as a regular movie, but it would be hard to do either "A Wind in the Door" or "A Swiftly Tilting Planet" as anything but anime (kything, for example, would probably be best visualized as writing a la GAINAX or the creators of Lain--American filmmakers just plain aren't that daring). I'd also love to see GAINAX's take on Danielewski's "House of Leaves."
