Too much action

KareKano is bound to never hit the screen here. If it does, I'll... dance, or something That sort of thing is a little too character-oriented. And I'm not sure how well the humor would migrate into mainstream English setting, too... (never having seen the dub and all).
Well, from what I hear though, they are gradually getting into more serious titles, like Witch Hunter Robin or Wolf's Rain - those aren't completely action-oriented, IMHO. But ho! - I've already heard people whining over WHR being too boring! - there goes your proof
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Action-violence sells.
There’re historical occurrences/behaviors towards action.
And the eternal love of little kids for it.
What’s the point of getting mad about it?
Unless you’re trying to eradicate violence from the TV and other Medias, it’s all futile.
Kids really are the only ones people always say are susceptible to harm from seeing such programs.
Take action oriented anime off the air; get the 6 o’clock news full of gore, real-human-palpable incidents.
Unless for some kind of psychological damage prevention I don’t see the awfulness of it all.
That the market is saturated with these is a given but it’s the kind of program that appeals to most.
Give us action, give us adrenaline, and leave us at the edge of our seats.
THAT’S what people want…but I would be so glad if Kare Kano makes it to the western hemisphere.
Besides the facts that:Is there anyone else out there sick and tired of seeing action-related animes on Public Television? BECAUSE I AM!! Everytime we turn on the TV with our remotes there's is nothing but action-based cartoon drabble. On every anime I have seen so far imported onto American TV they have to have some sort of energy balls, guns, mechas, sword fights, explosions, mythical creature attacks, or martial art moves in it somewhere to have the show be entertaining. Can't we see one anime on TV that doesn't have horribly-butchered action as its main genre and/or plot-pusher? Does anyone agree with me on this? Seriously.

Re: Too much action
Example: Sailor Moon. Heck, the amount of action isn't actually that far behind the amount of *actual* action in DBZ, once you get done with the grunting and endless cut-away scenes.DrngdKreationz wrote:now my theory is most (cutsy titles like kurumi, or Ai yori ) will never be completely accepted if tossed into that primetime slot. mainly because it has to do with they way charachters interact with eachother. there is a level of culture written that goes into the story that isn't american culture. and that will have a harder time getting accepted into public TV... or something like that.
American culture likes violence and action. It's a common and acceptable aspect here. It's ok kids to see people getting killed, but a bare breast or something other than heterosexual preferences are nearly cardinal sins. *shrug* Not that it ain't screwed up, cause it is, but that's just how things are here.

You lucky devils, over here, all i get is Pokemon, Beyblade and rurouni kenshin, all of that early in the morning aroun 8.30 - 10 which sucks major time. And that's all we have. Well there would be cartoon network but all they broadcast is old shows, and as for toonami we have batman of the future, x-men evolution, samurai jack and masters of the universe.... which they show for the 100-th time
Kill all the spiders...and save the butterflies...

Yeah the first 5 times may be great but when you watch it for the 20-th time (just because that's nothing else on) you get tired of it. Oh and i forgot to mention justice league.DarkPrinceOtaku wrote:but that's great!! pretty much the same as me exept without kenshin...but dont forget teen titans & the justice league ('',)cilu wrote:You lucky devils, over here, all i get is Pokemon, Beyblade and rurouni kenshin, all of that early in the morning aroun 8.30 - 10 which sucks major time.
