My father will never ever understand my love affair with anime or Japan for that matter. The only thing we concur on is Kurosawa.
My mom liked Spirited Away and also saw X. She read manga (Full Metal Panic Vol. 1), of course it didn't help that in the first page Kaname is naked cause she's taking a bath.
Mother's reaction was funny to say the least. Such a prude.
My family in general still see them as cartoons or don't even have minor knowledge so I don't bother explaining.
I did get a friend into some but he only liked them cause they were shonen-ai (Gravitation, Yami no Matsuei).
 God my answer is so off topic but who cares...
Still I'll keep loving anime and manga.

WHHHEEE, let's all necropost!

My brother, his fiance, my sister and I all watched Onegai Teacher the other day. We do these lil "anime marathons" every month or two. It's kinda fun seeing how many more family members I can get hooked on anime. It was REALLY funny in the part where

They all got REALLY upset by it and started yelling at the TV, basically saying, "You idiot, what are you thinking!"

...why is it that people believe me when I say my reply is off topic when it really isn't?

 Now that I remember Mom had a nasty shock to learn Shuichi from Gravitation wasn't a girl like some pictures suggested.
Plus it was actually my non-anime loving friend was the one that found both Gravitation and Yami no Matsuei for me.
He loves those two just not anime in general but interrupt him while he's watching FF Unlimited and he'll  you.

...Is there any forum besides this one that uses the term 'necropost'?

On a side note, my parents love to watch Miyazaki's work, but won't watch anything else. Maybe because Miyazaki's films are a little bit like Disney's, and my parents can't stand to see animation if it's different than the way Disney's has been. Not that they are Disney fanatics, but they grew up with animation being as Disney's is.

Isn't it sad? I stressed to my mom the difference of it all. Sadly now she knows what hentai and ecchi are...

No, I don't think so but I'm not exactly a forum ancient like some, it's actually my firm belief that Wheee_It's_Me! just likes to say it.
My parents also like Miyazaki, well, at least Spirited Away. It's normal to love what you grew up with, it's just sad to find out it was anime all along.

Necroposting is just a bit annoying, that's all - thus our avoidance of it. I'd at least recommend not to post in topics that are off the first page and/or are more than a week old

And back on topic, you should've seen how hard my dad was laughing when he happened to see a certain more comedic episode of Sailormoon on TV...

...except he was laughing at me for actually liking that stuff :?
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Eh...Which one are you reffering to?
