Most powerful moments in Anime.. ***SPOILERS***

Post a few of the most powerful moments in anime, without giving alot of references to deaths.


Neon Genesis Evangelion(spoiler)
This was the third to last episode where Shinji was gripping the last angel in his hand, trying to cope with finally having to kill someone, and justifying it within himself. The long period the director pauses while Eva 01 is holding the angel adds to the dramatic effect.

Now and Then, Here and There (mild spoiler)

The third to last episode where Sara try's to commit suicide, and Shu stops her. Its definitely the highlight of the series, and the dialogue is amazing, simply because it seems imperfect. They speak as if the script was written with a more realistic sense, than over the top rhetoric, as Shu still cannot find the right words to make the situation better.

Trigun
Wolfwood's monologue at the end of Paradise, pretty self explanatory.

When Vash killed Legato. My eyes got kind of watery and teary and I sat there watching the credits unable to move. I had to go back and watch that scene a few times. God, it creeped me out.

The end of Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis. Ray Charles' 'I Can't Stop Loving You' was PERFECT for that very moment in the movie, made me cry =(

Oh yes.

The scene near the end of Haibane Renmei where

Rakka saves Reki from being crushed by a train

was great too. Especially the short silent moment before that.

Well, in Banner of the Stars II,

There's the tearful reunion of Jinto and Lafiel, and their eventual trip to Hyde. Just the two of them, it would seem.

I may not be much of a DBZ fan, but I am a Vegeta fan.

So whenever Vegeta cried (what, twice?), it got to me. He spent so much of his life being a tough guy, that when he cried, it showed how deep in despair he really was. The only two times I remember him crying was once in the series, and once in a movie.

In the series, whenever trunks first came around to warn goku, they went super saijin together and vegeta could only just look on. That same night he cried in his dream, haunted by his limitations.

I don't remember the one from the movie well enough to tell about it. Although it was the return of fusion one.

Not really a sad powerful moment. More like happy powerful moment.

For the last third of Evangelion Asuka's confidence was shaddered. She's got to be one of my favorite characters of all time, so I kept rooting for her to recover. When she did finally re-sync with Unit 02 down at the bottom of that lake in EoE I practially stood up in my seat cheering. What followed is now one of my favorite action sequences of all time.

Followed by a sad powerful moment.

After having defeated an army and the mass production Evas, in five minutes no less, Asuka is defeated when the enemy Evas regenerate. During the rather gruesome scene she continues to improve her sync with Unit 02 to the point where she can get it to move with out power. But, it's too late, and she and her Eva are literally torn apart.

My favorite is at the end of Jin-Rho.

When Fuse has the gun and she is quoting the story, The Big Bad Wolf, holding him and crying. He has to chose between the girl he has begun to love and his loyalty to his group. What a terrible conflict, what a great ending.
