the reason pokemon and yugio can get the nation wide theater release is because marketers know they can milk all the little kids and their parents for all the their cash. not to mention they add a special promo card to the mix.

other anime movies are a lot more popular in japan, but there really hasn't been much of a push to show the more adult "cartoons" anywhere else. and i say cartoons cause it's an awesome stereotype that anything animated is more or less childish. and which would explain why they are milking money off of pokemon and yugio.

All I have to say about the movie is WTF!!!
All they did was insert eye candy so you wouldn't notice the movie really was kinda pointless and plotless. I left with a sense that somone owed my life and money back. :x

and maybe, just maybe when japan realease a new anime, it will be released in america at the same time. That is what i live and wait for.
Kill yourself. You live in vain.
I doubt that will happen. I thought that too, for a while, but I think most people are too ignorant for that. It wouldn't be enough to show a good, more mature anime title (which I don't think is neccesarily always true) in a mainstream setting, you'd need an audience that's receptive to it. And something tells me it'll take more than one good title to get the majority to take anime seriously
The problem is (and I know this is addressed) that the majority of who'd be able to see the movies in theaters are under the assumption that it's just a cartoon. (as well as like Otohiko said, what with culture, many people are unable to accept anything that isn't made in America. Nationalism is ignorance for some part.) Many grown men don't realize that anime can have just as much action as any Western or anything else and can quite possibly easily surpass them. I remember when I was about (9?) and was into Pokemon (like a lot of the nation's youth) but I was never suckered into buying cards and plushies or whatever. Either way it always made me mad when adults made fun of my fondness of Pokemon. Once they found out it was from Japan, they associated anything Japanese to Pokemon (I hate Pokemon; I loathe Yu-Gi-Oh.) and never considered anything worth watching. It annoys me when my friends and I are watching anime or an AMV and they look off in a different direction as though they have no interest and thus I am often left thinking 'Why the hell are you watching this? Find something else to do.' Though I never say it as I wish to spread anime in as many crevaces of the world as possible. (I contradict myself as I say that, yet am too lazy to create a website or anything promoting it.) I just hate the fact that I'm too young to see anything rated R without an adult as many classics are R. (Akira, Princess Mononoke, etc...)(I have seen them though.) My biggest problem is my budget, though. I hardly have any money, certainly not enough to buy a single DVD, much less a whole series. Thus I must wait for series to premiere on my cruddy basic cable, and the thing is that you have to wait for THEM to finish translating and editing or whatnot, and they do that on their terms. There's nothing I can do.

As far as that other thing about being one age and thinking another, I'm 14 but I feel incredibly stupid. I once heard a saying: "The weak complain that life is too short, the foolish claim that life is too long, but the wise know that it is just as long as need be." I've been trying to grasp this concept since I was 12, and I just can't. I think I may be rushing it. I believe that if I wait long enough this thought will come easily to me. I thirst for knowledge; just not that crap they teach at school.[/i]

YOU ARE OWNED! Watch the King of Spayn video if you haven't already. You are also either one of two:

2. Are represented and are considered as worthy as a goat. (Watch the video. You'll get it. I don't intend to offend you.)

"Kill yourself, you live in vain", you dont even know the half of it.
If the army or navy ever looks upon heavens scenes, they would see that the streets are guarded by the United States Marines.

I got some Linkin Park video that goes with GITS the series. ...Wow... It's almost like Akira in the fact that they (the creators) seem to have taken every possible option with a sci-fi twist and applied it to the show without breaking too far from the possible. One thing gets me, though. If that stuff were to actually happen, (robots being created for sexual gratification) wouldn't it be the ultimate emberassment to be in the headlines of a newspaper, the headline reading : MAN IS SLAUGHTERED BY HIS *insert the name of what those robots are called(I forgot)* DURING INTERCOURSE..." then to have something weird be in the main section like "...apparently the victim was castrated, allowed to bleed to near-death condition, then was just completely torn apart.', reports Seargent Ishikawa, Head of the Criminal Justice for Cyborgs Department..." That would be insane. Freaky, funny, but insane.
