Obviously, since Hellsing takes place in England, British accents are a MUST (I mean it's sounds SO weird listeing a bunch of Japanese people in England).

I can see that as a benefit of the English dubb. I'd like to watch Hellsing with the English accent dubbing. Thanks.

actually, being from britain, i find the "accent" in hellsing quite annoying as i have never heard ANYONE actually speak like that...it's like the "cockney" accents in mary poppins....just plain shite.

therefore i prefer the subbed version.

I'm from Britain myself, and I have to agree with you on the voices in both Mary Poppins AND hellsing. What I want to know about Mary Poppins is why did they get an american actor to play the chimney sweeper - Dick Van Dyke can't seem to settle on an accent, its pathetic.

To be entirely honest. My main reason for watching all anime that I watch at home in english, is that I HATE having to read the TV. I want to be able to go to the kitchen without Completely missing what happened. I just can't sit for so many hours at once to make watching subs a good idea for me. I've come to really like some of the voice actors, so that has just made me more biased.

I have to say I agree with this. Its so annoying to have to keep my attention completely fixed on the television screen for hours on end. Then your eyes start to get really tired and there's no way you can keep up with the speed of the subs. Man that sucks...........

Personally, however, I like the dubbings of Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and FLCL (bearing in mind that I havent seen the subbed versions). I did like the subs of Excel Saga, but only because the english voice actor they picked for Excel was quite possibly the worst sounding person I've ever heard.

Also, I've noticed that regardless of which is better, whether it be the original Japanese with subtitles, or a dubbed over version made in order to appeal to the American masses, whichever one i see first is the one I like better. Well whatever. I'm so lonely.

Who cares if they recorded the English track first?
Its anime and thus the Japanese language is the original to me.
As for packaging I was saying the same thing...
Who cares if English is displayed as the main language?
Even if it was available in English first, that fact doesn't bump Japanese.

If the movie was in French, I'll listen to it in French, same with any language.
I've an overall disdain for Subbings, any kind. I'm a purist and aren't afraid of subtitles if I don't know the language.

How that got brought up there, I have no recollection. It trickled down from a single statement, and it stopped thankfully and is back on-topic. But regardless...

I view subs out of habit, out of artistic compassion to see the original product. I always make it a point to watch the dub on my second view through. And if one is absolutely atrocious (either) I will skip it for the length of the series.

Sub or Dub, I do not think one is inherently better. They are independent, relying heavily on the quality of work put into originally, and by the license holder.

So you're saying you like the origional vocal tracks on everything but anime which had english as it's origional vocal track?

Saying that the Japanese sub on those titles is the origional to you doesn't really work as a point, because, well....they weren't

It was produced in Japan, during most of the production process it was written and talked about in Japanese only later taking English into account. Only after just about everything was done did they go back and rework the dub into English so this statement:

Except THAT DOESN'T MATTER. If the whole movie was made by escamoes, talking in escamo, and living in escamoe-land, then if they did the dialouge in ENGLISH then the origional dialouge was in ENGLISH.
