I would really like to play FF VII because i feel like a damn outcast everytime i hear people talking about it
Also when this awesome movie is coming soon and don't know anything about the story...
I really want to play it but doesn't really feel right buying a PS1 today, if you know what i mean...
Unless the PS2 can play ps1 games? Can someone confirm that for me?

Thank you for the info!
I was planning on getting a PS2 for Metal Gear Solid 3 anyway...
*Trying not to go off topic but*
Could you recommend any (prefferably japanese) good games for the PS2/1? I've been thinking about Xenosaga and Zone of the enders 1 and 2.

I recommend both those franchises, Xenogears/Z.O.E.
I also (back to anime relevance) recommend, once/if you get comfortable with Z.O.E. to branch out and at least sample the anime (Idolo or Dolores) but cest les vis.
Back to the matter at hand:
My all time epitome of everything Final Fantasy is VI. While I can acknowledge VII's greatness, I think VI would be better suited for the anime translation.
Oh, who could be the seiyuu for Kefka? Casting him would be fun.
And anime lends itself well with storytelling having the obligatory womanizer as one of the characters *cough*edgar*cough*. And that ninja stereotype as well: Shadow. Hell it even has mecha: Magitek armor, et al. The backrounds and landscapes too, would be a concept artist's dream. Hopefully with a good 'series structure' coordinator this would hypothetically be a ~26 episode series. I don't think a feature or OVA would do it a justice (or any other FF conversion for that matter).
So I will retort: "VII? Possibly. VI? Even moreso."

im currently playing xenosaga, im having a blast with it so far, kos-mos is freaking awesome. As for ZOE, fun, fast mech on mech but too short for my taste. *sorry for off topicness, enough of that*been thinking about Xenosaga and Zone of the enders 1 and 2.
i unfortunately never got my hands on that (FFVI), i have the import i just cant read the text -_-"VII? Possibly. VI? Even moreso."
On that I think could use a facelift and make a good movie/anime is FFII. Its old as hell and not many remember it, but the characters are well developed and the story is interesting and engaging. I got teary eyed when Wedge and Biggs turned themselves to stone to save the others. Great moment in FF history.
i also agree about 7. It was grand and epic, but i think they used the best medium for it. it going to be hard for the movie to top the game.
